Enterprise Incident quickie WIP.

I've had this model laying around for some time, but it's so small that I actually forgot about it, other than using one of the Enterprises as an example of scale.

The fact is, I bought two of these, because each kit only comes with two Klingon ships and I figured if I was going to do it, I'd at least have another Klingon ship.

Here's what the kit looks like....basicly. The directions and decals are long gone, so that will be the only thing that holds up progress. I really don't need the directions, because it's such a simple kit. All of these dinky, little kits are.

This is the Enterprise and this is where I'm starting. I've done the basic assembly, which took about five minutes, and I've added a little putty to the hole on the side, because I plan on mounting it differently.

I should be able to knock out the whole thing in less than a day. I don't have the decals, but I'm going to resize some existing decals from a different scale and really dress it up, however, this will delay the finished product, but only for that one reason.

Take a break! You're all over this forum. :)

That's probably the only kit missing in my collection. I am looking forward to the updates.

Happy modeling!

Sorry Just_Bob. I've had so much to share, for so long and have come up against so much....stuff. that it's nice to be able show some of the things I've been working on, without being hounded and having my threads deleted.... I guess I'm just anxious to get some of this out there. I've always shared my work and tried to contribute to the Trekverse, because I sincerely appreciate all those that came before me. There are so many unsung heroes of the Trek world and so many of them get disgusted and just quit. I'm not trying to be a thread hog, or forum hog. I just want to help out where ever I can. Something like this is so simple and I feel like maybe, just maybe, some one will get something out of it and I will be able to help someone, like I've been helped. I'm glad you're looking forward to this. this will be a short thread. It's not going to take that long and it shouldn't take too much space, in the scheme of things.

Man, this is going toooooo fast. What a simple thing. I just hate building kits that I have to have a magnifying glass to see the parts for. Whew!

The deflector dish. I went with gold, not because it's accurate, but because I've always liked the gold, since I first saw it on the Franklin mint thingy.

Adinkykitbuild5.jpg

Put a little putty around the saucer, to smooth it out.
Adinkykitbuild6.jpg

Put a drop of white glue (Elmer's) into the area where the dome will secure. A nice cheap mask.
Adinkykitbuild7.jpg

The nacelle dome. Actually the originals were missing so I came up with something else.
Adinkykitbuild8.jpg

A little grey primer.
Adinkykitbuild9.jpg

Next I'll start on the Klingon Cruiser!

Well, it's only been a couple of hours and most of that was waiting for the paint to dry. Here's the Klingon and Enterprise, side by side.

Adinkykitbuild11.jpg

The nacelle dome, after I painted it copper.
Adinkykitbuild12.jpg

The copper detail on the deflector grids. It looks better than it does in this picture. The problem is that it's so small that even with the micro option on the camera, I can't get a good photo.... More later.
Adinkykitbuild13.jpg

Pan back.......

Added a little detail. I used gunmetal grey for the nacelle end caps and some of the detail. I'm really going to have to work with my camera settings. this thing is so small, I can't get any of the detail. It all kind of blends together.

I don't know, I just don't see the attraction to the small, teeny, tiny, eensy, weensy, diminutive scale. It hurts my eyes to work on these things and my fingers are used to working on bigger things. The though of having to use a microscope to see the detail on a ship is amusing.

I want a model that's going to grab the attention of my friends as soon as they walk in the room. I don't want to have to hand them a magnifying glass and say..."What do you think?"

I'll tell you what I think. I'm thinking, why is KirkTrekModeler putting himself through such misery by building these small models if he doesn't like anything about them? I'd rather see progress reports on your 1/350 TOS Enterprise you've been working on.

Actually I'm doing both. As you can see in the background I've been puttying the Big-un, while working on the little-un. I'm just knocking this lil kit out to get it out of the way. I've reorganizing my modeling area and thought I'd finish this one up. I wont light it though. I already had the one Enterprise assembled and I'm using the sound board for my bigger display.

Your modeling area looks suspiciously like your kitchen. :D

No sweat. (I'll have a quesadilla...on the house)

Yeah those tiny models are something aren't they? As long as we're showing things, you won't mind if I show a tiny model I built. It's not as huge as the Legendary Space Encounter 1701 you are putting together,

So I lit it.

Oops. Sorry, wrong one. That one was the gigantic 11" kit.

Here it is. The pesky thing is so tiny it gets away some time.

Thanks for allowing me to share that stuff and Thank You for showing the work you are doing on that one-of-a-kind colossal 1/350 scale that you are working on!

:bolian:

Due to the Labor Day weekend and the pruchase of Half-Life2, this kit and the completion of this thread will be slightly delayed. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Thomas, I can't believe you had the patience to light that little ship!! I have thought about doing the same to my 3 set Enterprise kit. It really looks great. The fly by shot looks fantastic!!

Oh, and the 11 incher is just stunning :)

I've seen much nicer jobs done and the actually did the whole kit, not just the Enterprise.

Here's a link to one at SSM
http://www.starshipmodeler.com/trek/mk_incident.htm

There used to be one over at cult's and I remember someone over at HT doing one a few years back.

I never really intended on doing one with the lights and sounds. I always use the sound boards and lights for other things. This was just a quickie build to show that it doesn't take that long to finish one up and to show the ease of assembly, unfortunately, as I said the decals are missing as are the directions. A few things are missing after moving into the new house. :rommie: :guffaw:

My, how gracious of you.

Thomas, great job as always. Amazing detail on such a small model.

Yeah, about as gracious as coming into someones thread and saying "Looky What I did." I always considered it the height of hubris to come into someones thread, when they hadn't even finished thier project and try to show them up.

There's a difference between lending a hand, or offering to help and just being a nusance. Thomas knows how I feel about him and does this stuff to get a rise out me. I think we've all seen this pattern.

It would be a little different if he had started his own thread, but to stomp on someone elses thread is just wrong, whether it's me or anyone else. That's my oppinion.

Thomas Model's stream has you beat on distance but your stream is a richer shade of gold. BTW, interesting bouquet; have you recently eaten asparagus?

So, when you did this in Griffworks WIP thread, that made it OK? You know, for you to do that? I'm just wondering what set of standards you are using.

So, with all the slams you have made in this thread against the small scale, 1/2500 in particular, knowing full well you were doing it to get a rise out of certain people, doesn't your hypocracy shine through? How can you complain about Thomas when you were the one that started throwing poo at the beginning of this thread? Did you not think that once you started with the little digs and insults that no one would respond to your nonsense?

There's a reason why you keep getting banned from every site you go to and it's not a conspiracy. You're just a jerk.

What a lovely way to look at things. Yeah, I work in the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, the garage.... Whatever it takes. Aspragus? No, but there is the definate scent of garlic in the kitchen! LOL!

You know, it's funny, it seems to be OK to flame me and attack me, but when I say something non-appropo, I get slammed with a warning and ban? Strange?

I should have this wrapped up tomorrow. Had to give my eyes a rest and do something else.
