Enterprise E should have been a Venture upgraded Galaxy Class

Ok, if I had my way, the Enterprise E would have been the 3 Nacelled GalaxyX from "AGT"

But I know most people hate it with a passion :guffaw:

So, I would have settled for the Venture upgrade, which actually makes sense within the universe, since it was heavily used in DS9, and would have made a fine Enterprise E.

At the same time they could have updated the indoor sets to be more movie like while keeping to the original TNG designs.

To me, highly preferable to that hideous insect like Sovereign Class abomination.

I wasn't aware there was anything upgraded about the Venture as compared to the E-D before it was destroyed.

And I like the Sovereign class. Works better cinematically. To have another Galaxy class Enterprise fighting the Borg in First Contact wouldn't have felt right.

Wouldn't it?

To see the ship that twice before faced the Borg swoop in and kick ass in full-action mode?

Somebody around these parts made some FC w/ Enterprise-D photoshops, and the ship looked fantastic.

I personally never could stand the way the Enterprise D or E looked. The original Enterprise and the refit, just looked sleek. The Enterprise D looks way too top heavy. I know they're in space, and it doesn't make a difference, but there is something to be said about the sleekness of the ship. The E was a step in the right direction, putting back the long sleek nacells, but making the bridge and hull like Voyager was a mistake.

I even think they did a better job designing the NX-01 Enterprise than they ever did on the Galaxy class or Soverign class.

Now, my obvious response is that there shouldn't have been an Enterprise-E to start with. ;)

I wasn't aware there was anything upgraded about the Venture as compared to the E-D before it was destroyed.

The Venture was represented by the four foot model of the D that was modified for "AGT," so it kept the "humps" on top of the nacelles which mounted an additional phaser strip each. There may have been another modification or two that was retained.

Amen, brother Jitty.

I think I have some of those photomanips saved, but I don't know who originated them.

I too have those photos, and yes I agree they are amazing. Currently at work so I don't have them on me, but will post up when I get home tonight.

I actually really liked the design of the Ent-E. I guess I must be in the minority then?

I still haven't heard anywhere how the Venture was upgraded. I've certainly not heard of any Venture-subclass. What exactly are the differences?

It kept the vestigial "humps" on the top of the nacelles, which each had an additional phaser, because they didn't completely un-dress the four-foot D model from it's three-nacelled "All Good Things" appearance.

I think that was all?

The D was a Bentley, the E a Porsche. 'Nuff said.

No, the D is a Mustang Shelby GT 500 which is 500hp from the Factory and capable of giving most Porsches a good run. Admittedly a 911 would still beat it though. However, the 3 Nacelled Galaxy would be like the Mustang Shelby Super Snake, which is 750hp from the factory and could definitely stomp a 911 in straight line racing.

And while we're using car metaphors, allow me to use a visual metaphor:

Enterprise-D: Ferrari Dino

Enterprise-E: Tricked-out Mazda with neons, carbon hood and giant spoiler.

Hey, the scaling is right now. :techman: I wonder where that D mesh came from?
I remember the original thread these were posted in and the mesh was a higher end mesh created for Bridge Commander. I think the guy who did this sharpened the E-D in Photoshop for some reason (to get it looking more like the 4 foot miniature?).

It's probably the SNS Galaxy.

I wonder what a similar 'shop would look like w/ DJ Curtis's Galaxy.

...mmmm...
