Yep! They are supplying power - they were definitely not intended to be "tug" ships. We deliberately made it so the cables have no tension in them to try to convey that distinction.

That could very much be true, needing to fix the Fusion Reactors before it can lift itself off the planet under it's own power via Anti-Grav

One thing I like about this video is the scale. The saucer looks HUGE and gives you a sense of what it would be like to see the E-D in person.
