Name's Jovan (prenounced yo-vahn) and I am 25. I currently live in Los Angeles. I got hooked on Trek in 1988, back when I was still iving in my native country of Serbia. It used to be on TV very late at night (11:30 - 12:30 if I recall) and we were a season behind. I used to get special permission to stay up late so I could watch it.

When I came to the States in 1990, I caught up to the show through reruns, including the TNG year I was missing as well as TOS. DS9 started being appealing only after the Dominion war started, but I could never stand Avery Brooks' acting, or should I say lack thereof.

Voyager was abysmal to say the least, but I stuck around with it out of loyalty for the Trek brand name. Enterprise had a promising beginning, but it degraded by end of S2. The Xindi arc taught me that Brannon Braga is a talented sci-fi writer... for a show that is NOT Star Trek. His refusal to do a true prequal irritated me. I look at S4 of Enterprise to be the same year of rebirth as DS9 had in its fourth year running.

When I am not obssessed with Trek, I read and watch plenty of sci fi and write my own short stories. An Aspiring sci fi writer is only a hobby. I actually work as an attorney (yes, I know, came out of left field).

Okay so I'm new here too. I've been reading the forums for a few weeks now but I never sat down to write about myself and what I like about Star Trek until now. I am 22, and I have watched Star Trek since I was three years old. I watched the original Star Trek every day after school until they took it off and replaced it with The Next Generation. I got into The Next Generation because there was no other Star Trek to watch. Then Deep Space Nine came out, but I never really got into that because the storylines were confusing because I had missed so many episodes. When Voyager came out, I watched part of the first season, got bored, and tuned out until the 4th season when I watched it up until the end. I did the same with Enterprise, tuning out about halfway through the first season and back in a few weeks ago when my college professor told me the show had gotten considerably better.

Overall, I guess I would have to be considered an "all five series" fan. There are a lot of episodes of original Star Trek that I can't bear to watch, because of continuity problems from shot to shot and how dated much of the show is. I do like Shatner a lot and he is my favorite part of the show. With The Next Generation, I like Picard and many of the episodes a lot, but I find the show is starting to get a little dated, and a lot of it seems "boring". Deep Space Nine, which out of all the series I know the least, had some great storylines, but I liked the premise of the show the least. Even though I liked Voyager when I was 14, out of all the series I now like Voyager the least. The characters were such cardboard cut-outs, and many of the episodes felt like filler. Enterprise, though it presents some big continuity problems to the timeline, has redeemed itself in my eyes with Season 4. Also, the look of this series is by far the most beautiful through the use of HDTV, detailed set design, and moody lighting. Oh, and I love the look of the NX-01.

Whatever happens to Enterprise or the Star Trek franchise, LONG LIVE STAR TREK!

Things do seem crazy but that means there are probably a lot of poeple on here. This is my first post, I've loved Trek since I was 9 when my friends and I played TOS at recess. I love it now more now than ever mainly because of TOS DVD's and
ENT season 4 (1-3 turned me off). Something of note is that I'm planning a Star Trek themed party for the Ent finale and most of my friends can't stand Trek, could be interesting

Favorite Character- Dr. McCoy :p

So, then... Another newbie here.

I joined this forum because here in Germany we have the "Daily Trek" newsletter that's, before the cancellation occasionally and since then regularly hinted to this board. So, I peeked, and then I decided to register, since this board seems to be the ultimate contact point in terms of exchange of information.

As my sig states, my English isn't perfect, so please take my apologises whenever my diction and/or my grammar is off-key.

About myself... I am an almost-35-year-old guy from Germany. As a boy, I watched some of the TOS reps here in Germany. Later, I picked up some TNG eps, and still later some VOY eps. In fact, VOY hustled me into "Star Trek" when I became aware of all the other "Star Trek" series. I never got stuck to VOY, since I never found a character to identify myself with. So I switched to TNG. I love the character Riker, I love the "Q", and admittedly, I like the character Wesley Crusher (since I've been lurking around in Will's blog).

Then came DS9, the series I love and hate most at the same time. I pee on the whole religious Baior stuff, I don't get a single access to Kira and the other Baiorans. I didn't and don't bother if Sisko was "the One" or whatsoever. I don't care about religion in whatever way. I loved the atmosphere being grey, not black/white. I liked Garak. I liked Odo. I liked all these tactical decisions that -- for my taste -- went far beyond any of those "is it moral or not" stuff TNG did so often. In my opinion, DS9 did a great way in not committing to scripts that ended in "this is the right way, the clean, moral way", but in following kind-of "egoistic" reasons to decide so or so.

Then came ENT. Since then I've watched all TNG and VOY and almost all DS9 episodes as well as the movies. I've missed some of season 1, but from then I've seen all the eps, may it be on German television or (resp. and, since I've "shared" all those eps via P2P) on the computer.

Yes, I've noticed some of the errors most all of the screenplay writers have done. Yes, I am aware of stuff like time line and "canon" and such. Yes, I acknowledge the right-to-exist of the so-called nitpickers. But on the other hand, I see "Star Trek" as nothing more as a TV show with a message. And as far as I am concerned, being nitpicking is not about some time line stuff, but about how one adopts to the message of the show(s).

'Nuff said :D

Just popping in to say hi to all the newbies here. Hope ya have a good time, and I'll see you around the forum. :)

Straylight, your English may not be perfect, but it's not far off, don't worry.

Hello to anyone who's a brand-newbie since my last visit...remember, Saturdays are "Buy Drinks for Cooleddie" night! Sour amarettos and Dr. Peppers preferred! :D

Hi! My real name is Jennifer. I have been reading this forum for several months, and love it - it's crazy here. :) Been a fan of ST for ages, and just recently realized that ENT was like the only thing I watched on TV! :O WHat am I going to do after May 13th? ;) No seriously. . . .glad to be here and out of lurkdom!

I'm new too. Have been watching Trek since I was a wee laddie sitting in front of the TV with TNG. That has to be my favorite series, with DS9 getting good only after the Dominion War and VOY never capturing my interest. ENT recaptured the enjoyment I was having with TNG...and now UPN has cancelled it. Dammit!

Seriously though, glad to be here. :)

Hi,

I'm new too. I am a huge sci-fi fan. I love all the Star Trek Series (DS9 and ENT in particular), Stargate SG-1, and Stargate Atlantis. I haven't gotten into Battlestar Galactica yet though. I have lurked here for a little while and decided to (finally) register. Unfortunately, whenever I tried to post something I couldn't (Damn Norton Internet Security). Anyway, Hello! :)

YOu have to turn off the privacy setting and it works fine. IT took me a long time to figure it out.

Ah. I tried playing around with the Norton for a while but I wasn't able to really do anything and then just sort of gave up. As of today, however, I am using Zone Alarm!

Hello to the freshest and greenest newbies...PLEBE INITIATIONS begin in a few hours, so don't wear your best underwear!

I lurk here a lot.
I'm a STARTREK.COM person... it seems to be a bit easier for my browser to load. :)

I'll admit now that I'm an Enterprise fan and a TU supporter, but aside from my signature, I'm not pushing it.

Welcome. I too support TU, but am unsure if we are now forbidden from all mention of TU and ENT support campaigns. Perhaps one of the mods can enlighten me.

It's mentioned in the ENT forum and it is pinned.
