Hello My name is Ramon

I'm from Melbourne Australia

I'm 24 and currently working at a restaurant part time

I was in College but I was getting dicked around a lot and I left (plus the fact that I was sick of it.)

I first started watching Star Trek when I was a kid. I got a Star Trek 2-Wrath of Khan Record book (talking book when you put a record on and the narrator reads along with you). I loved it and used to play it all the time. :)

I was into the Star Trek movies, TNG and Star Wars, then High School I started to watch DS9 and VOY. I loved the early seasons of Voyager and thought they were some of the best. Then through College I got into Babylon 5, Farscape, Lexx, Red Dwarf and Andromeda. I also liked watching Power Rangers up until the Space saga. :o

I also watch Futurama, Simpsons, Celebrity Daethmatch, Smallville and Angel.

Thank you :)

there are a couple folks from teh BBS here in teh portland/vancouver/seattle area but i've never met any of them... it would be fun to do so though... :)

next time there's a convention in the area we should all meet up... hang with our "homies" from the BBS... :D

Yeah!! Woo-hoo! That would be cool... too bad I'm going to penn state for the weekend of the con in February :(

I'm Elishka, which is not obvious from the screename, but whatever. I'm 19 and an aeronautical and astronautical engineering major at the University of Washington in Seattle (can't believe I'm not the only UWer here!). I've been a Trek fan as long as I can remember, thanks to the entire set of TOS episodes my parents have always had around the house. TOS is my fave of them all, followed right now by ENT, TNG, VOY and DS9, but that order changes from year to year.

Outside of the mound of homework I always have to shovel through, I am the president of UW's chapter of Phi Sigma Rho, the engineering sorority (which is why I'm going to Penn State in Feb). I was on our robotics team over the summer, but I decided to quit becuase of the mass amounts of hw I have. SIgh

Other than Star Trek, I watch a few other random shows , mostly reruns of old comedies though. About the only new show I keep up with other than ENT is The OC, and I'm still trying to figuare out why I like it so much... hmm... what else... I have two cute doggies and I throw shot put and discus in my limited free time. I think that's about it. :p

Hi, I'm new here. My name is Jolene. Recently turned 33. I've been a fan of Star Trek since my earliest memories, watching reruns of the original series. I'm a big fan of all of the Star Trek shows and I enjoy Enterprise very much.

I am the creator of the universe.

(Yes this universe not the 'other' one next door which I have nothing to do with for legal purposes.)

My hobbies include inflicting earthquakes, tidal waves and plauges on the wicked and inflicting hurricanes, tornados and reanimated garden gnomes with a thirst for human blood on the righteous.

In my spare time I review Enterprise episodes for Trekweb.com and I keep trying to create a rock so heavy that I can't lift it...but no luck so far.

Some of your best work.

If you have a minute one of my neighbours has a full set of Snow White and the 7 Dwarves in their garden.

If you could get them up and killing I would appreciate it.

Hello,

I'm Gary from Jefferson City, MO. I too am one of the ancient ones here as I'm 42. I grew up with TOS, although I really didn't see many episodes until they started running in syndication in the 70's. I've enjoyed all incarnations of Trek including Enterprise, but TOS will always be my favorite.

One of the things that has surprised me most is the wide diversity in the opinions of the fans about the state of Trek Today. Back in the 70's we all loved Trek, ANY Trek. Wow, have things changed.

One more thing, as my screen name indicates, I'm a HUGE KC Chiefs fan. And with respect to Colts fans everywhere, let me just add:

GO CHIEFS!

:)

That's because we didn't have a hell of a lot of Trek to choose from...But even after TMP came out you could see the seeds of the current contention between Trek fan factions. I recall hearing and reading about many fans who weren't happy with TMP....especially the uniforms...
:D :D :D

So true Knucles2, so true. It's too bad that the powers that be wasted so many years before finally getting the TOS characters back in action. I suppose there may have been valid reasons for not doing so, but to this day it astounds me that NBC & Paramount didn't resurect the old series after it became such a sensation (and money tree) in syndication.

Oh well. (Oops, I guess I kind of hijacked the thread, not the appropriate place for this discussion. Sorry.)

Ummmm...

lessee...

When I was 11 I conquered all of Argentina in only three weeks using only my trusty army of green plastic soldiers?

In 1994 I told Jennifer Lopez to her face that she sucked as an actress...and that in a few years a Weather Channel hottie with her name would come along and look sexier?

Hi!

My name is Arlene, I'm a lesbian and love Star Trek. I think Enterprise is not canon and should be cancelled asap. I will try to be as arguementative as possible trying to explain my fellow people here why it should be cancelled.

I love you all (especially lady trekkies!)

Hey, all!
I answer to the name of Bob because that's what people insist on calling me.
I'm 48 yrs old, have 3 kids - 14, 13 and (Providence help me) 4.
I presently live in the wierd state of NJ where I spend too much time lurking on this BBS and waiting for Ptope to continue his alt Ent story...
I grew up watching Trek original runs in Brooklyn, NY and have been an avid fan thru most of the TOS movies.
I became a disapointed fan since the premier of TNG and have remained a disapointed fan thru every other incarnation of Trek. I keep watching with the forlorn hope that something good might be made of Trek before I die.
Which leads to my final self description:
I tend to delude myself with forlorn hopes...
:D

Howdy neighbor...

You realize of course if you don't like ST you shouldn't watch it, though I disagree with your opinion on it.

Interesting thread! Hello everybody, my name is Kirsten, I´m from Germany and 31 years old. I´m a Trek fan since I saw the reruns of TOS in the late 70´s – my first love was handsome Captain James T. Kirk, sigh – and I loved TNG from day one. I also enjoyed DS9 (although I hated the ending) and Voyager, and nowadays I´m a big, big Enterprise fan :). Other Science Fiction series didn´t catch my attention (only exception is Farscape), but I have to admit that my second Science Fiction love is Star Wars. All in all I´m more into reading (e.g. novels by H.G. Wells), that´s why I made my university exam in history and history of art. Unfortunately people nowadays refuse to learn from the mistakes of the past and thereby refuse to pay historians to tell them about former times...so I did some journalism, got trained as a photo documentalist and right now I`m working for an European project concerning internet safety for children. From March 2004 I will be on the road again looking for a new job.
That´s the short version of the story of my life, oh, and by the way: Mr. Pithers is one of my favourite characters from „Monty Python´s flying circus“(played by Michael Palin). He´s a cyclist who gets involved with the Russian secret police ... (Cleese: "Would you like me to show you the door?" Palin: "That's very nice, sir, but I saw it on the way in.")

Hi, I'm BlackMage. I'm 14, which makes me the youngest person yet to post in this thread.

I'm from Sydney, Australia, and my hobbies include plotting the domination of Galaxy Bookshop, destroying the world and all existence, and writing my TV show, Beyond Earth.

I also like Pizza Shapes. Don't hold it against me.

Hi I'm new here. My name is Barbara. I live in Oklahoma. I'm 24 years old and love animals. I have 1 Cat,2 Dogs,2 Ducks and lot's of chickens. My first star trek show I ever started watching was DS9. I had a huge crush on Dr. Bashir. My faverite shows out side of star trek is Farscape,Angel, Without a trace and Monk and my soaps. My faverite authors are Leigh Greenwood,Janet Evonovitch,Nora Roberts and any author that writes for DragonLance and Forgotten Realms. My faverite singer is Kenny Chesney. I guess that's all. I look forward to posting. :D

Might as well join in!

I'm Jenica and I'm a 21-year-old native Californian. However, this year I'm doing an academic year abroad in England for my degree. I'm a history major/anthropology minor at UC Riverside and I adore the ancient stuff, especially Celtic and classical history.

Outside of school, I love to do all sorts of things. I'm a competitive Irish stepdancer, first and foremost (got lots of Irish in me as well!), with kickboxing, tennis, and jogging taking second priority. I love being active physically, it makes me feel good. I hope to take up yoga this semester if I get time. In addition, I love reading - mostly fantasy (Tolkien, Robert Jordan, Goodkind, J.K. Rowling, etc.), but also historical fiction, sci-fi, and the occasional trashy romance for fun. I also enjoy writing. I write A/T'P fanfic, as well as some original fiction when I get blocked...my fanfic is housed here, if anyone's interested. ;) Mind, it's a very generic site - I basically suck at computer lingo. http://www.geocities.com/fenix_reincarnate/index.html

I have two beagles whom I love to pieces (one of which can be seen at my site, if anyone's interested!) and make me partial to Porthos, of course. As far as Trek goes, I love the latest incarnations, Voyager and Enterprise best. I watch some TNG and TOS and have yet to get into DS9.

So...me. :)

All the best people do. ;)

You should get over to Dublin some weekend. I seem to recall an offer to join me in a jig down O'Connell Street... :D

Hmmm. I think with the current direction of the series, a jig is certainly in order. ;)

Kal'En, I'm there already... I heard Air Canada and Jetsgo just slashed their prices... :p ;)

okay, my turn. And no, I'm not telling y'all my age. ;)

been a lifelong trekkie. well as far back as I can remember. before Trek, don't remember much. okay, that's not true but what the heck this is TrekBBS!

I'm a freelance writer and an editor and write a lot of nonsense in my spare time. :p

I love film and books and plays and yes, even the opera. I can stay in a room all by myself for ages with just a pile of books. you just need to feed me intermittently. :p

My fave *western* classic is the Illiad. and then Tolstoy's The Resurrection. love Austen and Dickens and Wilder and Poe. loved those old b-movies -- those old vampire flicks like Brides of Dracula and yeah even newer, more fun stuff like Love at First Bite.

but I really dig political intrigue and end-of-an-era classics like Dr. Zhivago and The Manchurian Candidate. But then I also love Dr. Strangelove. :p

back to Trek, imo, the classics are the spice of life. they never fail to excite the system. so I love shakespearean/mythic references on Trek. hence I loved DS9 and STII and also STVI.

but first, I loved TOS. I was one of the first kids in line for STII (that should date me yeah). STII still rocks.

"KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!"

yeah it's probably hands down the best Trek movie ever made *and* it can compete with any suspense/thriller/drama movie of that era, etc etc.

I loved STIII but more for the moments/chemistry/cameraderie/love between the crew ("Admiral, is the word given?"; "No, I am therefore going, anyway!"), not the plot -- it was a little too predictable for my taste. and for a cast that didn't "get along" they sure had oodles of chemistry together onscreen eh? I can watch TWOK, TSFS, and TUC many times.

STIV was good but haven't watched it since. it had some fun parts but on the whole, felt too much like a sell-out. but it did bring a lot of new fans into the fold. I give it that. "Everybody remember where we parked!" :D

what else? loved First Contact. hated every other TNG movie. yuk. Generations was only ok for the first few minutes.

I love watching character arcs, tension, conflict, drama, psychological hangups and understated, convoluted dialogue. And I love dry humour and biting satire. so I adored DS9 (and yes also B5). DS9 had almost every single character *start somewhere, and end up somewhere else*. that is an amazing achievement. and this spanned its recurrent characters too. crazy!

I didn't watch Voyager on its first run. watched it in syndication. thought it no comparison to DS9, though it seemed to have wasted potential in terms of some characters. but I didn't like the *away* mission. I want to see Trek stick to people and events *effecting* change, and in turn, that change *affecting* people and events. at times, I love that feeling of "full circle". at other times, I love being left hanging. it's all in the writing of it.

I *hate* reset buttons with a vengeance. they should be eradicated from all modern literature and tv and film. the classics always showed consequences of actions. that's why they're classic.

ENT is good. it really is getting better. and I feel heartened this season to see the writers attempting to inject new life into it. I love the cast, yes, even Anthony Montgomery; although he could use some help with his delivery of lines. and I like the new direction. I'm looking forward to this next bunch of episodes yeah...

okay, I'll shut up now. hope y'all had a good nap at my expense. :D
