Elyse Levesque interview

Isnt it sad that I had no idea that was the name of Chloe's actress?

I miss the old SG title sequences where we saw a face to go with the names in the credits.

Sadly, opening credits sequences are becoming very rare on television these days. Hell, the first half of seasons 9 of SG-1 and 2 of Atlantis didn't have credit sequences when they first aired, though they were inserted when the seasons went to DVD.

Is that really the reason, though? While I don't deny it's a factor, especially due to the increasing length of commercial breaks, I suspect there is more at play. After all, opening cresit seuquences have practically been eliminated from movies, where commercials and time slots are not a factor at all.

That's a trend that has been popular with movies, particularly commercial blockbusters, for quite a few years now. It goes back at least as far as LETHAL WEAPON 2 (1989), which just has a title card at the beginning, holding the credits until the end of the movie.

Still, throughout the 1990s opening credits were still quite common in movies, even if they were slowly being abandoned.

But I'd say since the 2000s movies with opening credits are very rare indeed. Hell, even the last two Star Trek movies lacked opening credits. In fact, aside from the Bond movies, do opening credit sequences even exist anymore?

Sure they exist. Just not in very many big, commercial blockbusters (outside of the Bond films, where they're part of the formula).

MOON, for example, has a wonderful main title sequence.

Perhaps that website lists more, I just found it by google search.
