Eleven hours on DIY!

I got a 4 door, 4 drawer mirrored wardrobe delivered today and because I live on my own in a small 1 bedroom flat it took me almost 11 hours to put it up and I'm exhausted. A couple of things though about the wardrobe that I probably shoudl've complained about and arranged for a return was that it was 10cm wider that I thought it would be (catalogue said 140.1) and also one of the corners on three of the drawers had split apart meaning I had to improvise and nail them together. Cause it was wider I had to rearrange my bedroom to suit it as the wall I was going to put it up against was no good which means I now have less space to move about in, (lets just say you couldn't swing a cat in it).

Now that it's up I'm glad but at the same time I'm thinking I should've got a smaler one, but I've got it now and the idea of dismantiling it and repacking it sounds more work than putting it up.

Anyway any other DIY stories people like to share?

That sounds like my simple request to my hubby about two years ago. Our dining area consisted of three blank, cream-colored walls and the opening to the hallway. I had no place to store our crystal, or candles, or the large while platter we'd received from my Mom.

I ask hubby if we could put three brown floating shelves on the back wall. Thinking this will be cheaper and easier than buying or building a nice shelving unit, he says, "Sure. I've got it all under control." He brought home the shelves and set right to work.

3 days, two drill bits and several thousand curse words later, he finally finished.

The problem? First his stud finder didn't work, so he went out and bought a new one. Then he discovered that the studs on that wall were completely RANDOM (8 inches, 16, 14, 10, and then 12, etc). Then he broke the drill bit and replaced it with his spare. Then he broke that one. Then the battery on the drill gave out. Then the screws that came in the box were the wrong size.

I don't even want to the talk about the time he decided to run cables down from the attic. I had to leave house.
