eeg! 51-year-old actor marries a 16-year-old girl

Re: Courtney Strodden, 16 married to 51 year old man...

It came up in some kind of ABC news interview late last week, which seems to have pushed it back to the fore. I hadn't heard about it before.

I totally believe that the guy didn't realize by looking at her that she's as young as she is. That said, 51 and 23 would still be... extreme.

I don't know these people, it really ought to be their business and I hope they're as happy as they can be for as long as it lasts. I remember reading that Frank Sinatra went into his marriage to Mia Farrow with a very realistic attitude toward it, telling friends that it wouldn't last because of the age difference. Don't know how Farrow felt about it, but they apparently remained friends throughout his life.

My first thought: yuck. Sixteen? Too young.

Then i watched the ABC video of them...and they are either very good actors or they really do love each other. They seem REALLY happy.

I wish them luck. If two people can find each on this earth and love each other, who am i to say it shouldn't be?

I would marry Sean Connery in a second, I see no problem with this, especially since both sides agreed to it. As long as people are happy, all the more power to them. You can't help who you fall in love with. When you're legal, you're legal.

i haven't seen a picture of her until now, and quite frankly she looks at least 20. if i wasn't aware of the facts, there is no way in hell i would believe she's so young. (holy crap! so young? she three years younger than me...:brickwall:)

So I happened to watch about a minute of her music video with the sound off while Luther Vandross was crooning on Pandora...and the juxtaposition was remarkably entertaining.

There are people on this very board who must remember how much fun I was when I was 16.

We all say that. But the nasty truth is that we were stupid, irresponsible and reckless. And nothing can change that. The word "Fun" is just a way to make it sound better.

Yeah, I don't... I don't think you quite grasped the meaning of what I said, there. But that's fine, we aren't disagreeing.

I wasn't reckless or irresponsible. I was angry and would stomp around and slam doors, however. My parents thought I was doing drugs.

I believe that is something we have in common (except for the slam doors part).

My parents thought I was doing drugs.

Join the club, mate. Especially after i got arrested along with two guys who actually were drug dealers.

I definitely didn't hang out with drug dealers back then. I didn't even drink until I was 23.

Nah, I meant my parents thought I was doing drugs as well. Especially after i got arrested. I didn't even know the two guys however, me and a few friends just kicked their asses and the cops caught us. They tried to steal my friend's bike. We warned them, but they didn't listen...
