I remember reading that Frank Sinatra went into his marriage to Mia Farrow with a very realistic attitude toward it, telling friends that it wouldn't last because of the age difference. Don't know how Farrow felt about it, but they apparently remained friends throughout his life.

In the case of Sinatra and Mia Farrow, I think the difference in their personalities and lifestyles was a far greater gulf than the age gap.

There are people on this very board who must remember how much fun I was when I was 16.

We all say that. But the nasty truth is that we were stupid, irresponsible and reckless. And nothing can change that. The word "Fun" is just a way to make it sound better.

I wasn't reckless or irresponsible. I was angry and would stomp around and slam doors, however. My parents thought I was doing drugs.

I was building model airplanes and jerking off a lot.

Come to think of it, I haven't changed in 40 years.

Maybe, but "young" doesn't automatically equal "sexy". For example, if given the choice to date this girl or Helen Mirren, I'd pick Helen Mirren. She's older than I (I'm 31, she is 65), but holy shit she's sultry and sexy, and wickedly smart.

Well my explanation for that past period in my life would be: I was young and in love.

As for I was like at 16...fuck, I was alive and in HS, I never thought I'd last that long!I was trying to figure who the hell I was supposed to be. Didn't have time to get in trouble.

Have you ever heard the proverb "The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long"? You don't have to stake out the most objectionable opinion in every single thread. Mix it up a little. Hate on a murderous dictator for once. Find the gay relationships in a show compelling. Pretend that you'll have some semblance of human compassion when you see someone dying. Go with the flow every once in a while so you don't make it completely obvious that you're only out to provoke an angry response from people.
