KIRK: Are you sure this is all of them?

Pure awesome.

Stardate Order: It solves the Galloway thing, because "Omega Glory" doesn't have a stardate and can freely be positioned as late in the show as one wishes.

Yep. Stardate order also places a Chekov espisode before "Space Seed", IIRC, fixing the supposed gaffe of Khan doesn't know Chekov.

...And, if we further choose to believe that it works the same way as in TNG, with a thousand stardates per season, it lets TOS represent all the five years of the mission.

Which would be good for e.g. the "Errand of Mercy" / "Day of the Dove" pair, since in the latter the passage of three years since the former is indicated. That's perfectly in keeping with the stardates, but doesn't jibe with airdates or production dates.

Then again, shuffling things away from production order inevitably leads to minor discontinuities as well. Although I'm not aware of it resulting in a dead character coming back to life... That is, except for Leslie, who does that in the other two orders as well.

I just watched "The Galileo 7" again the other night, and think I found another sighting. Kirk goes to the transporter room and talks to a fellow about their progress in fixing the transporter glitch. The guy's face is 3/4 away from the camera, but it sure looks like Paskey. He had a few lines to Kirk. Can anyone confirm?

PS Maybe the "multiple Paskey" conundrum could be solved by evoking Everett's MU theory. Perhaps "Mr. Leslie" was caught in some type of dimensional trap, like Worf in "Parallels," except all of his various incarnations stayed in our dimension for some reason.

Doug

Actually, it looks more like Mr. Garrovick in the G7 scene...sorry.

"Connors" is a perfectly valid first name for Mr. Connors Leslie, of course. :)

I don't know how I missed this the first time, but it's brilliant.

The thing in "Obsession" is that Paskey's character, whom Kirk addresses as Leslie, is one of the two that follow Ensign Rizzo to their doom. While Rizzo is left barely alive, all the heroes including McCoy behave as if the other two just plain died. Kirk declares the two dead, both immediately on the field and in the subsequent log entry. Also, their faces are a whiter shade of pale than Rizzo's, who briefly survives; when the second batch of redshirts bites it, again the one guy with still-pink skin stands a chance of survival while the whiteface is declared dead.

So the supposed scene where Leslie is saved would ill fit the episode as ultimately filmed. Alas.

I thought Leslie was with Garrovick's team, later in the episode...

Garrovick had with him a red-haired youngster (whose dead face is seen in a close-up) and another man with dark thin hair and rather deep-set eyes; Leslie's prominent jaw and proud curls are only seen alongside Rizzo, as his right-hand (from the audience's POV) wingman, as well as in the closeup that shows him stone dead.

However, it has been pointed out that Leslie (or at least Paskey) does make a brief appearance later on in the episode, walking on the corridors. I haven't been able to spot the scene yet, though.

When I was stationed in England, one of the guys I hung out with looked so much like me that we were often asked if we were brothers (which drove my friend nuts; I got to really yank his chain once when someone asked us if we were twins and I just said, "No, I'm a couple years older." )

So, we may be back to Mr. Conners and Mr. Leslie, two guys on the same ship who just happen to look alike.

So, what we may very likely have with "Obsession" is the untimely demise of poor Mr. Conners.

...But the big problem is, Kirk specifically calls somebody "Leslie" in the teaser of "Obsession", and Paskey's character promptly hands him an instrument as response to the call. And then Paskey's character goes and dies. :(

I'd rather go the twins route, then.

It's always informative to go through that site - not to mention damn fun!

For the first season, we could basically believe in just two Leslie brothers: the redshirt Ensign who premieres in "Where No Man" and generally sits on the bridge but also does security guard duties, finally getting promotion to Lieutenant; and the blueshirt Ensign or enlisted who hovers around sickbay. (There's the minor issue of the transporter tech whom we see mainly from behind, but we could argue that's not Leslie and doesn't even look like him "in reality". The same with the couple of goldshirts seen at great distance.)

The Leslie that dies in "Obsession" is rather unique in suddenly being back at Ensign or enlisted rank, when all the Paskey redshirt appearances immediately before and after are at Lieutenant rank. All the more reason to believe that this was not our "Ryan Leslie", but "Connors Leslie" (uncharacteristically in red rather than blue, but perhaps he's the field medic of the security team?), whom we never see again afterwards.

Interestingly, it seems that the only other time Leslie/Paskey "returns" to Ensign rank is in Paskey's last appearance, in "Is There in Truth No Beauty?". I would have thought TPTB would never have managed to stay that consistent...

Oh, and on the subject issue of this thread:

Yes, Ryan Leslie is a relatively high-ranking redshirt. But no, he doesn't seem to be the big boss of the security division at any time. He might be the longterm second-in-command of security, though, the one tasked with monitoring things from the bridge, and doing all the VIP assignments, while Giotto generally watches from his office and sends lesser goons to regular missions or to assist Leslie.

ok i change my vote lets say giotto was the first, more mature and experince looking, its a shame the barry russo role was not used more ( a la worf) but at least he changed his name to wesley and got promoted to commodore!

Ya think maybe those pesky androids Harry Mudd was hanging out with might've had a Leslie series and a few of them managed to get on the Enterprise a few years before Norman?
