There are some really nice eink based devices out there for reading ebooks and some about to be released. There is the Sony Reader (soon to have a new version), the iRex iLiad, the Cybook Gen3, the Amazon Kindle, and others in the works. All have eink screen which give a nice reading expereince. better then your average PDA or cell phone. and because they are portable, makes t very easy to take your books with you. I have a Sony Reader and I think it's very good. I do use it to read the SCE books. Also read the Mere Anarchy series with it. Almost done with The Good that Men Do and will be finishing Music of the Spheres after that. Because of the Sony Reader, ebooks are a delight.Steve Roby said:
ETA: boy howdy is this edited.
Okay, let's try mellowing this one out a little.
This was not one of those topics that are supposed to be about the content of an ebook and turn into a debate about the format; it was started to ask about the format. Pointing out the weaknesses of the format is entirely relevant.
I think SCE is great, I love that Pocket is doing some interesting experiments in storytelling using the format. A lot of good people and good writers are contributing to the Star Trek universe through the ebook format. But the format is a problem for some people.
ETA: reading a forum and reading a book are not the same thing.
Finally another ebook DRM has just recently been broken as well. The program converts to HTML also. But once the DRM is broken, you can convert into whatever format you want.ATimson said:
Probably. And at least one format has a tool to extract the source HTML files from the ebook container, so it could be printed from a web browser or recent word processor.
