Actually, it has. In TMP and TWOK there was background radio chatter and on-screen references to Franz Joseph designs, leading many (such as myself) to believe that FJ's work was accidentally recanonized, countering Roddenberry's original orders.

^It wasn't accidental. FJ was actually asked by Lou Mindling of Paramount to be more actively involved as a consultant on TMP, and only declined out of deference to Roddenberry, whose input was actually being rejected at that point. Roddenberry's sour grapes decrees against FJ's designs came later, during TNG.

I've seen it with Trek before, and with screens showing stuff on Agents of SHIELD as well.

Sometimes they have some real fun with it. I spotted some great text on a computer screen in "Independence Day," of all things ("The reason for these greeblees is to lead you to think that these words mean something" and "And now I see with eye serene, the very pulse of the machine. Wordsworth."), but my personal favorite was on Stargate: Atlantis, where a pier on the city model read, in alien text, "You have too [much] time on your [hands]." You can see it here, if you read Ancient.

Well, it's not going to stop people from having fun with this part of the hobby, is it?

Love the Mudd callback (Harcourt Fenton Mudd, one of his descendants or ancestors) from episode 5. And the nod to Johnathan Archer in episode 4 (Star Trek Enterprise).

Discovery is set only 10 years before the events of TOS.

Ah thanks for the info. So maybe a close relative then.

Well I don't pay that close attention to the timeline.

He's THE Mudd, not a relative.

Good list. The only thing I can think of that they missed was "Lethe" was a character's name in "Whom Gods Destroy".

I so didn't notice the unfinished STIII Spacedock and I saw the last episode twice.

Heh, it was the first thing I noticed the first time I watched the episode.

So Federation President's office is in Paris as we've seen in Trek, from TUC to Paradise Lost (which amazingly was all within a few years).

Not sure what's up with the Eiffel Tower though. I think this is the first shot of Paris at night, but why isn't the tower lit up?

I assume it's the French optout of the "freedom of panorama" part of copyright law, but as a model you think they could light it themselves.

Maybe at some point they returned it to its original non-lit state? Also, the whole city seems a bit darker than usual, so maybe they're taking light pollution (and energy saving) a bit more seriously.
