East coast earthquake.

I love that there's an earthquake on the East Coast and the first thing half you neckbeards can say is "fuck Californians!" like we caused the damn thing.

We say "fuck Californians!" because pretty much every Californian is making fun of us for thinking that the biggest earthquake in 100 years is sort of a big deal.

Oh, you poor Squigs.

And it is a big deal. But if the biggest earthquake in 100 years struck California, it truly would be a big deal. ;)

I'm glad everyone seems to be okay. I hope the folks out in Colorado are okay, too. Not much reported on their quake.

I missed it. Just like I missed the last earthquake that hit eastern NA.

Supposedly, in Canada, this was felt from Windsor to Ottawa. I'm in London, didn't feel a thing. No-one I know felt anything either. Guess it missed us.

^

Looks like the Hayward Fault (which runs through San Leandro) is jealous of the attention the East Coast is getting from this. Besides the mild shock last night, there was another one around noontime on Hump Day...

Cheers,

DEAR CALIFORNIA,
YOUR EARTHQUAKES HAVE ESCAPED!
PLEASE CATCH THEM AND RECAGE THEM WITHIN YOUR BORDERS.
SINCERELY,
VIRGINIA

(aftershock just woke me, damn thing)

I haven't felt any of the aftershocks. Of course, I've been asleep for at least two of them.

I was in that half asleep, half awake area when the aftershock hit last night. My bed shook like mad, and it's a very sturdy old bed.

:guffaw:

As an East Coaster who transplanted to the West Coast, I was obviously very concerned about everyone back home. Very happy to know everyone is ok.

At the same time, it disheartens me that some of my fellow Californians are shrugging this off as if its not really a big deal (whether because they think it's silly or because we just have to live with the specter of earthquakes and fire season on a daily basis).

If I recall correctly, lots of East Coasters boohoo'd the 'citrus freeze' back in 2006 that deep-sixed most of our oranges and such that year. As I recall, it was very much the same kind of back-and-forth going on in whatever discussions were happening at the time.

Can't we all just get along?

*Waves hand*

:p

Well, now there's a hurricane for you to suffer through, so it evens out.
