Early Enterprise Design

I was wondering, since I can't find it anywhere, if anyone has the early, fan-made designs for the Enterprise NX-01 that appeared online a few years back, by the artist Steven Davis?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. It's the design seen in this, at the bottom.

Oh wow, I've never seen that before... that is really awesome though. I love that design, makes me want to do a cutaway of it lol. Now I wanna find more about it too :brickwall:

It's very difficult to find anything. I know there were a few photos released. I Googled it and everything, using any search words you can imagine.

I do agree that it's a cool looking ship. Something about it screams gritty and unfinished. I like that for some reason.

I never saw this one either when I had been on the look out for the popping up images of the Enterprise design when I wasn't sure about the series before it aired. There was a site I use to visit that did end up having the TV Guide Cover of the top view of the Enterprise but I don't even remember it anymore.

This is what you're looking for...

I like it. It has that "kinda dumpy, kinda frumpy" vibe that screams retro. This I could've bought as a precursor to the 1701.

Oh, so this is where the S.S. Conestoga came from. This design would have been great too.

Quck! Email this to JJ Abrams!

I'm DIGGING this vibe. How is it that I've never seen this? I've been drawing and collecting Trek ship art and designs for years.

I just realized, this design is based of the Protector from Galaxy Quest.

The SS Conestoga is based of DS9's Defiant.

Is anyone interested in making drawings of this specimen?

It would be interesting to see what it "really" looks like, along with dimensions.

It would've made an excellent NX-01.

OH MY GOD. This scow was considered for the role of the NX-01?

ROCKET-style sublight propulsion? You're kidding right? Whatever happened to proper Trek designed impulse engines?

That's just...no. I could MAYBE see this ship as one of a variety of absolutely no-frills civilian escape vehicles dispatched from the U.E.S.P.A., in the alternate universe story where Archer wakes up several years after the NX-01's defeat by the Xindi in the Expanse (suffering from amnesia,) with T'Pol looking after him.

Why not, why should a ship a hundred years before the lauch of the TOS-Enterprise already have the same sublight drive. The show is set a little later than halfways between classic Trek (125 years)and the launch of the Space Shuttle (160 years).

Mayby a little small.

That? For real?

That doesn't even look like a Trek ship. More like being from an dark future anime.
Okay, it's more the surface-structure and detailing than the overall shape.

And is that ship designed to land in water and swim?

It doesn't look much like the "Protector" at all.

It's a nice design, but I don't buy it for the "hero ship" of a Trek series - maybe something in the "Firefly" 'verse, which is cool in its own way. The NX-01 design used was much better for the purpose.

There was also this one which came out around the same time that people were thinking was going to be the new Enterprise:

OH My God...how did that get there???? Seriously, I did that like, 8 years ago, as a reboot/joke...I had a fake movie poster to go along with it too.
Amazing how stuff can re-surface. It was a ficticious movie called "Trek", to have been released in 2001, starring Pitt/Sinese/Clooney, written by Harlan Ellison(!)...just total nonsense. Little teeny tiny photoshop files back then, too. Actually, if I remember, it was an April Fools thing...

Really you did that? I like it its like a more Trek version of a Battlecruiser from the anime : Starblazers :techman:
