To your first sentence, yes these people do exist.
The problem is when a blanket is thrown over everyone with these types of labels. As I've said before, it had gotten to the point where even legitimate criticism is dismissed as being biased by being funneled through the same filter..and this is a problem. Even the rebuttal to Elon's post, by the Velociraptor (that's what she looks like to me
) mentions race when he never did. as far as Elon, I don't know where or when things changed so drastically. He used to be such an inventive, positive influence, and now he has descended into what he currently is. It's sad more than anything.

Yes, it's still super unclear how this all works. Is it primarily a ship? A campus? Are all the dorms on it? Do they have classrooms in there?The set design is out of this world, no pun intended, but I am wondering when will we get a ship-centric story that shows off the ship exterior more?
They showed it's abilities in the pilot and then like.. nothing?
Are all the students going on explorations? If not, what do they do if their college is away?
But at the same time - I feel this really does not matter that much so far for the characters or plot. It's not that type of show.
Academy Quarters seem to be in the Halo Section, War College Quarters seem to be ground based. We've already seen that the WC weren't on the first space mission, but neither was Ocam.
These sad news feel a little apropos of the discussion in this thread the last few days: James Van Der Beek, star of the 90s cult classic teen drama Dawson‘s Creek passed away this morning from colorectal cancer. The 48 year old was a father of six and was diagnosed with the disease a little over two years ago. Damn, this is way too young to go. May he rest in peace. 
I saw that. I don't recall any scandals, drug problems or any of the usual Hollywood drama. He seemed like a real down to earth guy and what's really sad is that he leaves behind a wife and six children.. Someone at my work recently passed from Bowel cancer in december after being diagnosed in october. He was 41. He had a 4 year old daughter and had just found out his wife was pregnant with their second child when he was diagnosed. It's a horrific disease. I'm 43 and keen to checked asap and not leave it until the recommended age.
typically, but not always, there is a familial component when someone develops it at such a young age, which means increased risk for anyone in the same family, good that you are getting screened early.
To me most of nutrek is just average streaming slop. Even the stuff I like about it I would not raise above that. It can be entertaining, but it's just not memorable. I would also give that same definition to the show enterprise, I honestly cannot remember anything noteworthy about that show.
My view is Star Trek is not a series that is defined by one series or another but specific episodes and characters.
Picard's set up in Season 1 was fantastic....and immediately abandoned.
SNW season 1 was fantastic, season 2 had a lot of amazing episodes. Season 3 was terrible.
DISCO had some great episodes and Season 3 set up a great idea...that was abandoned. 4 and 5 frustrated me furiously.
Lower Decks season 1's first half was terrible, everything else was amazing.
And so on.
Starfleet Academy is finding its own but I liked a couple of episodes and loved one.

Yeah, the first half of Season 1 was kind of hamstrung by the network execs wanting it to be "Rick and Morty".
But once they dropped that the show got really good.
SNW is 100% great.
I think it's my hate of Roger Korby and killing Chapel/Spock.
