Um...this is E3.
E3 does not begin until tomorrow.
Gunclub? Really? I'm not exactly a firearms hater but it seems a tad tasteless to me

But, I suppose you can't really fault them for marketing to that core. It just makes me actually reconsider contributing to that stereotype though.
I for one have made a pledge that I will not buy another FPS for a year. I am so sick of the genre. The only possible exception being Deus Ex 3
Yeah. Mine would be DE3 and F3:NV unfortunately. Game designers really need to find a way for people to talk to other people without shooting them in the face.

Miz makes another music synesthesia game called Child of Eden that looks to be Kinect exclusive. Why they didn't show this awesome game during the MS conference I don't understand, because this alone would have saved the whole damn thing. I guess Ubi wanted to open big.

Microsoft has said that the currently available Xbox models will not be available on shelves after they sell out, as all production has shifted to the new slimmer model.
Given that the new model is selling for $299, does this equal a de facto price increase?

Microsoft also said that they are working on a 200 dollar cheaper model. I also wouldn't really call it a price increase since you get more stuff for your money

Yeah, there's still an "Arcade" or some kind of scaled back unit.
What doesn't make sense is that now they'll have to pack in the Natal with power cables in order to support an obsolete system. I guess there's no easy answer to that issue, but that'll be a huge waste.

exactly, since this is e3, we will get write-ups, but most of them will not be decent... most write-ups will be fanboys gushing or bashing a game. as they've gone in with minds made up and an inability to see past the smoke and mirrors or see a game for the true potential it has.
I'm probably going to upgrade if they announce some decent data transfer option.
It'd be nice if they could offer some kind of memory card to USB adapter as well, because now I feel like a jackass after buying a memory card/getting one from the old Arcade I bought.

I'm really split. I need a new Xbox because mine broke down and I don't know whether to take advantage of the price drop for the Elite or put down a preorder for the new system and wait the month it will take to get to Europe. I'm not in a huge rush to play anything at the moment, and the new Xbox actually looks quite nice once I've seen it from other angles, but nothing makes me want to play the 360 more than knowing that I can't.

I'd say you should wait... or maybe get an Arcade.
Also, answered my own question about data transfer - the old transfer cables will work and they're selling them for the insane fee of 20 bucks. At that point, just buy a 16gig USB cable and do it manually.

Sure, but showing a few minutes gameplay at the EA conference isn't going to change any of that...
a few minutes of gameplay is far better than a few minutes of pre-rendered stuff.
Kinda makes you wonder if this new slim model red rings if Microsoft will send out a refurbished older model as a replacement. I know I'd be pissed
