Oh dear god.
I prefer the blades.
Major Nelson said:Dashboard built into the new Xbox Guide. For everyone who loves the blades interface, it’s not going away; they are now built directly in to the new Xbox guide. Every feature and option is available right from the guide. You can even access your full games library at all times. No matter where you are (in dash or in game), immediately call up your games played list and directly launch a game.

Fable 2 finally gets confirmed for October - I may cry. And that "purple orb representing your friends" thing is all kinds of brilliance. Seriously, that's one of the best lobby-less mp ideas I've ever seen. Actually I think it's the only one.
Well, doesn't every form of Co-op play?again, this assumes everyone is playing at the same time...

No, that's definitely not the impression I got from what he said. Also, the orbs were moving independently of his character.but it could just be the orbs represent your friends online (in any game). they dont update, they are in your town, or always near you (essentially it's a more game oriented friends list). if thats the case, it doesnt seem any more special than hitting the guide button and sending a game invite to a friend.
These look a little like pearls, and move politely about the world of Fable 2 as if minding their own business. And they are minding their own business: every orb you encounter is somebody on your friends list who's independently playing through the game. The orb shows their position, allows you to chat, gift them items, compare stats, and even boot them out of your world. It also allows you to invite them in to join you properly.

Thing is, I can arrange to play with someone outside the game, and we don't have to dick around with lobbies or invites or any of that nonsense. Just be in Bowerstone at 8, I'll go into your world. Boom. Done!
And, although I guess the likelyhood would be diminished in the real world, I love the possibility for random encounters with your mates. I might not be planning to do any co-op, but hey, if I run into a friendly purple orb and they say "dude, geez a hand wie this boss, ya prick" - ahahahhaha I love it.
The more I think about it, the more fantastic an idea it seems. YMMV.
I, on the other hand, think an Oblivion with guns set in the Fallout world would be awesome.

that is my point, you are already going to have to make arrangements to meet up with people.
i guess getting rid of a lobby is nice, but to me, it's not that impressive. it eliminates a couple of screens
Wasn't this what Crackdown promised, but never actually delivered on?Not just that. It acts as a portal into someone else's version of the game world. I wanted GTA to do something like this, seamless multiplayer/single player, but alas they went with a more traditional route (and fucked it up imho).
With a game world as "dynamic" as Molyneux promises (we'll wait and see), that adds a whole other dimension to Fable 2's co-op. If it's true that everyone's world will be at least slightly different, then that's awesome.
