DVD Boxsets - How do you watch them?

I know there isn't a lot of continuity between episodes in TOS, but when you're watching each season do you view each episode as there given on each disc or do you watch the episodes in production order?

I like to watch them in production order but I've found that after finishing one episode, in order to watch the next usually means changing discs and then possibly changing back to the first disc you had after the second episode.

Would it really make any difference watching the episodes in the order given on each disc?

When I watched the whole series through, I just went with the way they were on the discs, rather than swappin' 'em all around.

When they were in production order on VHS, I watched them that way. When the DVDs came out, I watched them in air order. And I have to say, I would be completely confused (uniforms, roles on the ship) from one episode to the next.

I watch 'em on a DVD player! <HAR! HAR!> ahem.............

I usually prefer production order if viewing an entire season.

Most of the time though, I'm too lazy to swap discs, so I view them in disc order.

^That is such a bad joke but it still made me laugh.

I was also too lazy to go about swapping discs.....

Why would ya be confused if ya had already seen 'em?

"I would be" indicates if I was watching them in air-order on NBC, original broadcast.

I watched them in production order. But one day I'm going to try watching them in stardate order just for the hell of it. Maybe including TAS as well.

My son and I simply watch whatever ep we are in the mood for. He will usually give me a description of an ep, and I will tell him the title and which season its from.

At this point, the DVDs are a research tool more than anything else, so unless I just happen to be in the mood for a particular episode, I'm throwing it in because I need an answer to a rather annoying question.

I have them all ripped uncompressed to a Network Media Tank (along with all the other Trek series) on a 2.1TB local HDD. Basically, I can watch any episode of any Star Trek at the touch of a button without the need to tediously change discs/constantly review copyright warnings etc. This is particularly useful if you're having a "Trek Session" as I call them spanning all the series. I have arranged each of the shows in their own folders/season sub-folders for ease of access. I did arrange TOS in production order. I've just fitted my first Blu-ray re-writer to my PC and I'm currently in the process of ripping the HD TOS-R episodes to replace their standard def counterparts - pretty certain the 2.1TB drive won't be big enough, so I'll have to upgrade!

I've watched them both ways (production and aired), and either way is fine. I also did this from 1986-2004 when I had the series on VHS.

You mention changing disks and if this is a problem. IS it a problem, or a big deal for you?

I have been watching a different episode each week with the sound off while playing The Smoker You Drink, The Player You Get, to see if it syncs up in an interesting way. So far....nothing! :wtf:

A quick qestion about the DVD's, I'm sad to say I've not watched a great deal of TOS in any format so I bought myself the Star Trek S1 Remastered(R2 version) and I noticed it doesnt feature the episode 'The Cage', is this on any of the remastered versions?

BTW, if this is a stupid question feel free to tie me up and hit me with Klingon painsticks (though be advised that I might enjoy it :-D )

In both the original and remastered sets, The Cage is available on the last disk of season three, 2 versions, one full color, and one partial color, partial Black and White. This is because the episodes are presented in aired order and The Cage, despite being made first, did not air until 1988. At least here in the States.
