^ I guess I simply meant that the book was much more sophisticated in its storytelling and depiction of realistic human relationships (more akin to an "adult" novel) than several other YA Star Wars novels I've read lately. More often than not they tend to be much more simplistic and archetypal (which admittedly has its storytelling-advantages, too).

There are plenty of simplistic adult novels too. Being sophisticated doesn't make something non-YA, it makes it good YA. Or good adult fiction, or good whatever.

Lost Stars should've probably been released as a full adult-novel anyhow simply on the basis of several fairly explicit sex-scenes within it (I recently saw it on the shelf of a grade school in the school district where I teach), which is atypical even by Star Wars standards.
