DS9 novels!!! WTH????

Twist of Faith includes Avatar 1+2, Section 31: Abyss, Gateways: Demons of Air and Darkness, and (Gateways epilogue story) Horn & Ivory.

These Haunted Seas include Mission Gamma: Twilight, and Mission Gamma: This Gray Spirit.

There will not be any further omnibuses as they didn't sell well enough. It was too late to stop These Haunted Seas from being printed.

So there's no way to get these unless I pay ridiculously high prices for them? That's just sad.

Depends where you look. On the uk amazon website right now, via the market place you can get the first two Mission Gamma books for 1p and 70p (before postage) and the final one for less than £2,
Thanks for this, just bought Mission Gamma book 4 for less than two quid.It was a lot more than that last time I checked.

I also forgot to mention the bookstore also had These Haunted seas omnibus for about ten dollars too. They have alot of the older classic Tos novels and ds9 books set before the relaunch.Three dollarseach not a bad buy for older books.:) Barnes & Noble had only 8 new Startrek books on their shelves last time i went to buy books it was 2 shelves full of Startrek books. Now all the other books are Starwars instead.

I was looking into the prices of the DS9 post-finale books today, and one thing had me puzzled. Anyone know why the Hardcover version of Unity seems to sell for so much less than the paperback version? I would have expected it to be the other way around...

Maybe new readers are looking for a more conveniently-sized copy, or one that matches the size of the other books in the series? (I waited a year for the paperback version of "Unity" for the latter reason.)

I actually picked up Unity when it was out and then a few years later when I was going to reread it, decided to give the old Hardback copy to a charity shop and bought a paperback copy to replace it.

What is up with the DS9 books from Mission Gamma: Book One all the way through to Unity being so hard to find new at a reasonable price???? They aren't that old!!!!
They went out of print, there's still a pent-up demand for them, which makes the prices on the aftermarket climb. That happens. *shrug*

This reminds me of the demand for the Virgin New Adventure books (Doctor Who). Some are quite rare and are changing hands at ridiculous prices. I'm still after a copy of Lungbarrow (I have read the e-book on the BBC website, but I still want my own copy).

Those might be "remaindered" copies. After a time, once a title has outlived its "freshness date" or whatever, publishers sell bulk quantities of it at huge discounts to bookstores and other closeout resellers (Books-A-Million, bookcloseouts.com, etc.) in order to clear out warehouse space.

Most major bookstores have a section for remaindered/discount titles where you can find all sorts of stuff. Sellers aren't supposed to resell remaindered copies at "full" price, and you can usually identify a remaindered copy of a hardcover or trade paperback by a black mark somewhere along the outer page edges.

I only read one book at a time so that's out. lol Plus, reading off a computer screen for extended periods gives me headaches.

So before I went the eBook route, I would have to have a Kindle or other reading device.
Get a Sony Reader. Then you can take eBooks with you.

yeah amazon's good. I just purchased several DS9 relaunch books at pretty fair prices. There's nothing wrong with a used book.

Amazon marketplace and Ebay have both been absolute treasures for completing my DS9 relaunch collection at very cheap prices - so long as you don't mind a used book (although they have all been in absolutely great condition!)

My only advice - check every day, because as soon as the book you want turns up cheap, it goes in a snap!

^Do you happen to know how much you picked up Mission:Gamma 3: Cathedral for? That's the main book I have trouble finding for anything less than $13 used...

I really should get into the habit of looking everyday though. Thanks for the tip. :techman:

You won't believe me:

After keeping an eye out for about a month, I managed to pick up BOTH Mission: Gamma 3 AND 4, together, for £2 on ebay (plus £2.75 p&p), and in excellent condition! I can't describe how elated I was when nobody else made any bids - Two books, usually at least £20 each, for less than £5 together!!

I was VERY chuffed!

Just stick with it. Persistence!

Wow, nice find. I still can't believe how much some people are charging for those books. I wonder if anyone is actually order at the big prices?

I paid about $14 each for MG 3 & 4. Amazon for one and eBay for the other. I just checked and Amazon has them for $9 and $13. Not bad, if you really want them.

Not as great as the $4 for the older TOS books, but what the hey.

I was lucky to find the fourth Mission: Gamma book in a used book store for $2.50. Great find on the two of them for so cheap though! I'm probably at least half a year away from getting to the series, so I'll be checking everyday until then and hope for the best!

I did see a copy of Cathedral go up on Amazon for around $4 a while ago, but I hesitated and by the next day it was up to $9...
