DS9 is getting a new DVD release

Seems like such an odd move. I suppose they're preparing for the possibility that some folks are going to miss having DS9 on streaming, but aren't willing to pay a monthly fee to have access to the series on the CBS app, but would possibly be willing to spend the money on the DVDs?

Is it possible to just buy the packaging for like 20 bucks and not the actual discs. The way DS9 was packaged was an embarrassment.

With the TOS blu-rays, I just bought a package of single disc shells and moved all the disks in there. In retrospect, that's what I wish I'd done with DS9.

That's another reason I'd like to see DS9 on region-free blu. UK sometimes has insanely better deals on their television series on blu. Ah well.

Yeah, up until this rerelease, getting DS9 on any format other than streaming was ridiculous. If you go to Amazon now, they aren't even selling the box set new -- buying from other sellers is priced at around $375. That is bonkers. And if you try to buy them all separately, they're between $35 to $50 each, depending on the season. I can't imagine this rerelease being priced that way. Who would buy it?

Only DS9?
I'm no prognosticator, but given they've announced a DVD rerelease of DS9 and Enterprise, and just released a big TOS blu-ray set, TAS blu-ray, and a TNG blu-ray, I would be surprised if VOY didn't get a DVD rerelease in the near future too.

Are we at least getting new masters? Those 2003 masters are pretty poor.

Every time I've bought a season of DS9 on DVD (I always buy used), at least one disk in the set has had significant playback problems. And CBS doesn't sell single disks.
