DS9 had the shittiest excuse for

I made some custom insert sheets using photoshop and used some of those thick DVD covers you can order online. I still have the originals in a box in the back of the closet, but the ones I got to replace them are much more practical.

I have thoes crappy slimline ones with tiny dvd cases, Although I've had no problem with DS9 cases, The Ring you push to get the DVD out in the Enterprise cases, Has broken on nearly every series of Enterprise. Mostly on the same day I bought them.

I don't much care about the packaging, as long as it doesn't completely fall to bits, and that it keeps the actual discs in good condition.

I have some of the Voyager cases (the old school bulky ones). DS9 I've been collecting in the new slimline ones.

As long as the discs are easily accessable and removable, I'm happy. The new TOS boxsets are very hard to get the disc out of. You have to be very careful when removing them.

Those original DS9 boxsets were awesome, despite being over £80 each. Such a shame they stopped making them, they looked great, they were good quality and it beats the other boxset designs that came out afterwards.

I picked up mine on Play.com, they were selling them at about £39 when they were first released.:techman:

Yeah I got those up until season 6, didn't get the last one, sadly. 80 quid per box is a lot of money. Luckily, I have selective amnesia. :p

I've been running out of room to put my dvds anyway, so I put my trek series in these. One of these holds seven seasons.

If your cases are falling apart, you should download the covers at RixGrafix.com, get some cases and make your own. The covers are pretty nice. I did this for my Babylon 5 dvds.

I got my Deep Space 9 dvds when they first came out (region 1) and they are still holding up great.

Bless you sir!
I only have one season (Season 3) but I can use these for when I get them all. :D

My packaging is already falling apart and I've only had it a month. It's also very easy to cut yourself on the packaging. It's ridiculous. I hate it almost as much as I do the Season 10 packaging for The Simpsons. I swear, our packaging designers for Region 1 are on some kind of crack.

By the way, what kind of case would I get for these that would fit and also safely hold all the discs?
Edit: Nevermind, the link next to the image shows where to get the cases.

Woohoo! :D

Ah FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEL YA PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIN.

I've had a TON of trouble with my DS9 sets falling apart, too...

Oy....:(

Seriously, no sooner did I type that out, I decided to watch a couple of eps. I carefully opened the case and *pop*, the title panel broke off, which held the other two sides together. *sigh*

Wow... they must be terrible! I can't imagine a DVD case falling apart... anyone have pics of the super damaged ones?

Sleeve City is awesome!

The plastic pieces attached to the cases housing the DVDs of the Region 1 set are attached very very poorly indeed.

Not sure if that is the issue that the OP is complaining about, but I've had those things quite easily break apart from the DVD housing.

On the other hand, at least the show content of some episodes isn't censored/cut-out like the Region 2 ones.

btw does anyone know any tricks on how to reattach those things in a good way? Or is that an impossible task?

The only problem I've had with the DS9 packaging is that season 6 shattered when I dropped it while packing for a move. But I can totally see how these sets would have plenty of issues. I feel like getting them in and out of the slipcovers is a bit of a hassle.

If you think the DS9 sets are badly packaged, you should take a look at the terrible job they did on the VOY sets. Terribly cheap plastic trays inside these horribly colored transparent boxes....and worse still were the discs themselves - no art at all. Just plain silver discs with the episode titles in microscopic print around the hole in the middle of the disc. I can't even read the damn things without a flashlight and a pair of reading glasses.

Seriously.

DVD packaging I've ever seen in my life. It looks really good when I see it on the internet but I just opened up my box set of the series and yanked out the first season and... Damn! A slipcover for a slipcover? WTF? Good thing the series is so good. How long should I expect the package to hold together before it falls apart? It's pretty damned flimsy.
I have all of the DS9 seasons and I bought them when they first came out.

Out of seven seasons I think only one is still in good condition. The rest broke.

Voyager's sets are worse though. They're held together by tape and you nearly break the DVDs to get them out of the case!

I only have one of the Voyager sets, and since it sees far less wear and tear than my DS9 dvds, it's still in good condition but getting it into the weird two-part slipcase is a little strange. I also have two of the 'Enterprise' sets, and I threw out the big plastic clamshell cases and just kept the blue trays with the clear slipcover.

Hmm, I'll have to check this out. My husband just got me the whole series and the cases arrived damaged. They're really awful, and I wanted to put them in a case or something but I like being able to see them on the bookshelf.
