DS9 Forum Welcome Thread: Hello fellow Niners!

I've been meaning to give this one a go. Soon, soon. I was very into TNG when it first aired, so into TNG that I saw DS9 as a 'paltry imitation' at the time. Almost an interference, if you will. I no longer feel this way, of course.

Truth told, I've only ever seen the original series & TNG. Well, and the films, of course.

Welcome and enjoy it. Wait with your judgment until you have seen the last episode. DS9 has great moments and the best characters.

Yeah, I've been hearing for years that it's a well written show with interesting characters. My knowledge of the show would barely fill a thimble, so we shall see!

IN MY HONEST OPINION
DS9 has the best acting, characters, storylines, consistency, natural dialogue, production design etc etc
It feels like the Star Trek most at home in the Golden Age of Television (started by The Sopranos)

Signed by Andrew Robinson?
It's priceless, my friend, priceless.

Prices for unsigned copies on abe.com range from $38 up to above $100, depending on the bookseller and condition.

I have my original Quark's menu from the Vegas Hilton (2000). Its pretty much perfect so if anyone is interested throw me an offer. I don't want to eBay this needs to go to a real enthusiast. UK fan.

Just finished DS9 two weeks ago and I loved it! So many strongs and great characters.
Hard to tell wich one I enjoyed most, if it was TNG or DS9.

I used to like TNG the best, but once I suffered through the first season of DS9, I was hooked. I really liked the first two episodes of the first series but the rest of season one was rather lacking, imo.

I like the 'seediness' of DS9 and the moral ambiguity of some of it's characters. It was interesting to watch the characters grow.

I also liked how Sisko and a few other characters made a few immoral choices (ends justify the means.) for the ever elusive and bs ''higher good'. Psh! Sisko was a thug when he had to be, but he really showed his nasty side best when he used crew and/or friends like tools to keep himself as far from accountability as possible.

Personally, I was delighted when Worf came on to the scene. Then suddenly it's Klingons everywhere you turn! I love ''em!
And Cardassians.
Even nasty little Weyoun was sort of adorable in all his wily politesse.

I was pleased when they began to complicate Dukat but then they turned him back into a two dimemensional Hitler. A psychopath with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. XD

I have a text on the show that gives a flimsy reason why they did this. People were beginning to relate and/or sympathize with 'poor, lonely Dukat.' Since it was supposed to be family friendly I guess they felt the need to eliminate all his grey areas and make it all black and white. The actor was rather unthrilled. XD

Anywho, this is my first post. I started at the first page and when I reached the bottom I saw the date was 2009. I thought for sure this place had died! Glad to see thats not the case!

Hi Feral.cherub. Welcome aboard. Easy on the spoilers, huh? Some people may join who are still watching fo the first time and don't necessarily want to know what happens in season 7.

Is there any way to edit or modify my post so I can spoiler it. Or is it too late to put the cats back in that bag? :-/

As a new member you may not have editing privileges yet. I can the post for you if you like. Which part would you like in spoiler code?

Everything after

"l ike the 'seediness' of DS9 and the moral ambiguity of some of it's characters. It was interesting to watch the characters grow."

I guess. Not sure how much else needs to be spoilered after that for a welcome thread. Thanks!

Hi as you can see I'm new here.
I am hooked on DS9, the atmosphere is perfect and characters fit in so well. To be honest I just discovered this gem of a show but I'm sure I'm going to like the complete series. Voyager is also cool but DS9 is the best.
