DS9 "Crossroads of Time" for Sega

heavylids

I recently acquired a Sega Genesis and was interested in purchasing this video game. However, before I make said purchase, I was wondering if anyone on the board could give me information or a review of the game. Is it good or a complete piece of shit?

Not having ever actually played the game, I won't be directly any help. That said, you might get more replies in the "Trek Gaming" forum.

Also, You may want to take a look at gamefaqs.com, they have a nice database of older games, including reviews.

I only played it briefly but there's something odd about watching Sisko constantly running through the halls of DS9.

Horrible. If you really want a DS9 game check out the offerings on the PC. The PC DS9 games still suck, but not as much.

I think the best DS9 is probably The Fallen. Probably got the closest to capturing the DS9 atmosphere.

Or the fact that, for the most part, it was a solidly made game. Some of the others were, to put it mildly, broken... (coughDOMINIONWARScough)

Crossroads of Time was pretty terrible. It most resembles Flashback, and is set around the time of Emissary, therefore it has nothing to do with the Dominion story arc.

I played Crossroads of time a long time ago, but never finished it. It was really not that interesting to me. The above posters are right, The PC DS9 games are much better, The Fallen is the best (despite its lack of Avery Brooks and Colm Meaney for voice talent) and Harbinger is the second best. (Despite the long weird planet on the second disc)

I've been playing it recently on an emulator. I don't think it's that bad. The only mission that drove me nuts is when Sisko has to go back in time to his time on the Saratoga at Wolf 359. Not to mention having to use a computer console to change the modulation of your phaser.

I gave the game another chance tonight and I have to change my opinion on it. I still believe it's a bad game, but if you remember the limitations on those old consoles it's actually pretty decent and it's kinda fun running around DS9 interacting with the main cast. If you can find it cheap I'd say pick it up. The only thing that gets me is the music. It's quite good, but it has to be the most inappropriate/least Star Trekkie music I've ever heard. It sounds like it came straight out of a Doom level.

Here, have a listen. The music starts up at around 0:25.

I think I would have enjoyed Dominion wars if I could have gotten the damn thing to work

When it worked, I liked it. I recall it became somewhat more stable after some patching, but it still crashed A LOT.
