DS9 actors in other roles

I was alive to see Rene as Father Mulcahy in the film M*A*S*H

I wasn't old enough to see R rated films when it was in its first run, but I saw it a few years later in one of the theatres that used to show movies past their first run. VHS put those theatres out of business pretty much, and DVD and Bluray finished off whatever were left.

Jeffrey Combs in some scifi-show where he was a brutal inmate in some prison.
If I recall correctly, in the end he was deemed too much of a risk. He hair and beard were trimmed, and his doctor ordered a small part of his moustache to be left. He was put in a deep sleep and exiled to a planet. Last we see him, he looks exactly like Hitler.

Mind you, I could be mixing some details up here. Because this was more than 20 years ago.

Harris Yulin who played Aamin Marritza in the season 1 episode Duet was in the Western series The Macahans where he played the villain Deek Peasley. A villain who was so mean, cunning and sleazy tthat he actually was funny.

I've seen him in other roles too later on but the first time I saw him on screen was in The Macahans.

Harris Yulin was magnificent as Marritza in Duet too!

I got into Star Trek fairly late in my life, so that was me watching DS9 for the first time: "I think that's Principal Snyder", "oh look, it's Reggie", "hey it's that English actor I've seen in dozens of movies", "hey it's that Irish actor I've seen in dozens of movies" etc.

Come to think of it, of all the ST shows DS9 had the most recognizable cast for me - out of all the main actors, I was only unfamiliar with Brooks and Visitor. Compare that to TNG/VOY/ENT where I only recognized two or three out of each ensemble. And I was watching these shows 15-25 years after they originally aired.

I do like to play the HITG! game with the guest roles in ST shows. It's especially satisfying guessing the correct actor when they're covered in full facial makeup/prosthetics

I was looking it up for another reason and then realised the Chief was in "Layer Cake." I'm watching "In Bruges" and it reminds me a bit of that.
Frakes was a guest star so I'm counting it and I've been watching "Roswell" and he turns up as a slightly more narcissistic version of himself annoyed that other Trek alumni haven't turned up in Roswell for some alien celebration thing.

Just saw Armin Shimmerman in Castle. He played a high-end salesman of sci-fi memorabilia. When he said the word "purveyor," I had Quark flashbacks. Then he offered to sell Nathan Filllion a Klingon Bat'leth.

Nicole de Boer was on an episode of Stargate Atlantis called Whispers (5x07). She even makes a comment very similar to the "new life and new civilizations" line from Star Trek!
