They started out by emphasizing that this was not going to be another Star Trek podcast. And then their very first episode release, their guest is LeVar Burton. I love the TNG cast, and Burton has done so much fine work over the years, but perhaps they should have gone a different direction with their first episode?

Is it though? As it's very much just an obvious, easy pick that won't get any traction outside the people who would 100% already be watching it. If it's going to be a TNG alum...Patrick is the only one likely to get outside coverage and build anything.
FWIW too...the bell being rung so often is a gag that wore thin VERY fast, and that was just the first ep.
People, it’s not a Star Trek specific podcast where they’re discuss Star Trek specifically, but they’re not going to not talk to their dearest famous friends, who’ve done other things than Star Trek, about other things than Star Trek. And in that we still get stuff about Star Trek. What is the problem?
Again, if you don’t have interest in yet another podcast, no one is forcing anyone to listen to it. I listen to different ones in phases and usually not all the episodes, just the ones that interest me. That’s the modern world of plenty for you. Still, it’s nice that that stuff is out there for reference and to hear something new, maybe through someone else who’s listened to something you haven’t and then sparking you to look at it specifically. Overall, we just get more good stuff whenever we’re in the mood for it.

Of course it's a hook. It's the internet. Your discoverability is affected by the number of followers and views/listeners you have. If you have a potential built-in audience, you're going to put a fishhook in their lip ASAP to get an initial base who will share the work that you can build off of. If they continuously pander to that audience, then they're not really trying to broaden their base.

No. The impression I got from their socials was that this was more of a request from Burton's side and it was out of their control.
What pander, how much Trek did they talk about? Not much. It’s about them (two Star Trek actors) and their lives (in which there’s a lot of Trek too) and the names they can drop as a result. Of course there’s going to be Trek in it: they said as much in their first video.

Im so confused why didn't they chose to make this a trek podcast?! The only way I see this podcast actually working out if its like a tng episode by episode rewatch type thing. Not trynna be a douche but seriously, who wants to watch these old ass dudes talk for an hour about not even the show theyre fucking popular for!!!. They really need a third member so like it isnt just the two of them talking nonsense, and for the love of god the AI's gotta go
