Seems like it'll be a fun show.

Seems like it could be a lot of fun, yeah. Hopefully they’ll do away with those horribly cursed AI illustrations of them, though. This does not look like Brent Spiner even one bit …

Yeah I saw this yesterday and found the Ai stuff a real turn-off. The banner for sure, but I'm assuming the theme song too at this point.

When your show is two dudes sitting, why are you using Ai to show two dudes sitting? It's madness.

All that said, I'll listen to the first ep. Fingers crossed. :)

Edit: Hah! They must have been catching shit from all sides, they've partially changed the banner already. (Not done very well, but it's a start.) :D

^ Interesting that they already changed the banner! And hopefully a sign that they will rethink the heavy AI use for the show. Looking at the YouTube comments under the trailer they indeed do get a lot of flak for the AI intro song and illustrations. My guess (hope?) would be that this was something done by whoever is producing the podcast for them and not the actors themselves (although one would think that they had a chance of looking at it before it went live). Would be pretty disheartening to learn that two actors who pride themselves on decades of creative work decide to go for AI slop, ripping off other creatives’ work, instead of hiring human artists to create this stuff for their show.

It sucks that this is what we talk about when a trailer for something like this drops, but I guess that’s where we are. :(

I agree, but pushback is essential to stop it from becoming the norm. If every new venture gets slapped around for Ai use, hopefully the next one will learn from their mistakes.

Until it's indistinguishable of course. Soon we'll have lost the battle.

So is this what actors from Star Trek and Smallville do after their acting jobs dried up? How many podcast series from Trek dudes can there be? Well, it's Frakes and Spiner, so it'll be hilarious at least, so when I get a chance I'll tune in.

I like some of The D-Con Chamber, but get annoyed when Dominick won't let guests finish sentences. But their Bakula show was beautiful.

Talk Ville remains a gold standard for me. Michael Rosenbaum really is amazing at this stuff. But really, there are just so many of these things and I get that these guys need the work and extra scratch from paid subs. I just wish there were more Stargate shows to employ these guys. That franchise was the patron saint of ex-Trek actors.

They've updated again already. Still not quite there (IMO) but getting closer. Maybe give Brent the rest of his hand and choose a shot that doesn't have to be horizontally flipped to face the right way.

And they're still technically between two ferns but at least it's not so obvious now. ;)

Honestly, yeah. I didn't mind when Rosenbaum just did it or when Kevin Pollak did it, but now EVERYONE does it. I'm getting SO sick of it. I'm assuming agents are saying podcasts are the new thing, and that's why there's been such an influx the past year or so.

I might watch this one, but the high amount of these podcasts has turned me off of most new ones.

I just plain don't have time to check in on all these podcasts. I wish them well, but this field is getting way too crowded. I feel like Frakes and Spiner are kind of late to the party.

I also must admit, the format of this particular podcast doesn't really float my boat. I am sure the two of them together will be entertaining, but a show about celebrity encounters is just kinda "meh" to me. I am not much into the whole celebrity thing anyway. There are actors I respect a great deal for their acting talent, but getting excited at getting to meet someone just because they do television as a career? I never really understood that.

I would be MUCH more interested in hearing Frakes talk about his directorial experience. That I would definitely find interesting. But this? Not so much.

Regarding the D-Con Chamber (and its predecessor Shuttlepod Show), I have tried. However, every time I just want to scream at Dominick. He is one of the worst hosts I've ever seen. Every single time a conversation begins to get interesting, he has to jump in and cut off the guest. He even does it with Conner. It is very annoying and has left me very sour on that show even though they've had many extremely interesting guests. For example, I can't think of another podcast that has gotten to sit down with Rick Berman. But I just can't watch it for any length of time.

They're cheap to make and can rake in the dough if they take off. But most of them don't take off. Supposedly 90% of podcasts are dead after episode 3. And of the ones that keep going, 90% stop after 20 episodes. There was an article a few years ago that said in 2021 Spotify had 4.4 million podcasts but only 8% of them had made a new episode in the prior week.

It's like all those shows that are one season and done on all those streaming services. There's just too many of them going after a small piece of pie. They're gone before you even know they existed.

Michael Biehn has a podcast. I wish it was better. Don't know if his health and memory issues play a part in it or if he's just pulling a Dominic Keating.

A bit chaotic and kinda weird that they did a live before they released any episodes.

Oof so much negativity, people. If you don’t want to watch it then don’t, but please what’s with the whining? I think it’s great that we get this opportunity to get bits of new information about the actors and their lives, since I’m interested in the actors and their lives, aside from Star Trek. And of course the occasional nugget about Trek too. But I mean its insight we maybe wouldn’t get otherwise so what’s wrong with it exactly? It’s an age of (yikes) “abundance” and we don’t have to delve into more of it than we want to. Only with the actors and others we actually want to.

All that said, I watched the first episode and boy was it rough lol I thought to myself “welcome to podcasting, boys” and hope the learning curve is a good one for them. If the show is good it will last, if it’s not, eh. I’ve already got maybe thousands of hours of other podcasts I’ve enjoyed, let alone the rest, to get to whenever the mood arises.

Why was this a normal recorded interview but when he did the Shuttle Pod 1 interview it was all photos.

Was he promoting photography or visual storytelling or something at the time?

The Shuttlepod Show had behind the scenes issues which eventually killed it. It's why Dominic and Connor started over again with The D-Con Chamber. If I recall that interview came towards the end of the Shuttlepod Show's life, and that could be why video rights were withheld.

Then again it could be something as silly as someone forgetting to turn the camera on.

Wow, one of my favourite Twitch streamers has his comment pinned on the latest video lmao, that's funny to see.
