That book that the Doctor is holding is called Fighting The Future, by Joshua Naismith. Joshua Naismith is a character in The End Of Time, being played by David Harewood (he's in the trailer for the episode).

How about a bit more, though? Remember the bus in Planet Of The Dead special earlier in the year? It had an advert on the side of it. Remember who that advert was for? It was for a telecommunications company Neon by Naismith. The plot thickens.

i merely said i'm more excited about Merlin than Who now. why do you think I think I'm being forced to choose between them?

To each their, own, of course, and I love the Merlin show, too, but it's so different from DW that I think it's possible to like both equally. And DW has 46 years of history behind it, which gives it a little edge! ;)

Unless they're planning to air them opposite to each other (which won't happen as they're both BBC Cymru productions) I don't see the conflict. And who knows, maybe the BBC will do a big crossover in which we find out that King Uther is actually Mr. Finch in disguise, trying to orchestrate a Krillitane invasion, while Merlin is actually the 12th or 13th Doctor under the influence of the Chameleon Arch! ;)

(Actually, in all seriousness, if we don't get to someday see Katie McGrath playing either a villain or Romana III on DW, there truly will be no justice in this world!)

Whereas Merlin has a mere 2,000. ;)

Hey I'll take Christmas and New Years. I'm a sad old git who doesn't have any family or friends nearby to celebrate with. And I have to work all through the holidays. So it'll be nice to actually have something to look forward to.

An airdate of Boxing Day for Part 2 has become less likely. Apparently there's going to be a BBC 2 radio show featuring Tennant interviewing RTD about Doctor Who to air in advance of Part 2. The radio show is scheduled to air on Dec. 29.

So that narrows things down to New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Alex

Almost certainly New Year's Day, as that is the most watched day of the Christmas/New Year period after Christmas Day itself, and where other high profile programmes have been shown if they were not on Christmas Day in the past.

Some subscribers have got the next issue of the Radio Times early which confirms Xmas Day/New Years Day for the last two episodes and also that special Project 3 will indeed be the Xmas Idents.

To quote the man himself, who's on top form, "I watched the 'Wallace and Gromit' idents last year then walked into the office the next day and said 'I want that!'"

I think I might be a lone voice here. Anyway, this is what's just occurred to me. These are the last of 10's stories. Chances are he's going to die. Okay, so he'll regenerate and therefore not really "die", but is this something I want to see over the festive season? A beloved tv character biting the dust? I remember years ago when the final Blakes Seven epsiode aired a couple of days before Christmas, bummed people out for months (although, granted, different end results). I'll be interested to see how this all goes down with the general viewing public when Doctor Who "dies" On Boxing day, or New Year's Day, or whatever.

My thoughts on this started out as: :scream: But they ended on: :guffaw:(such is my love for the general British public!)

I must be the only British kid who survived the end of Blakes 7 unscathed...although in fairness that was because I was so dense I actually thought it was just a cliffhanger and the series would be back...about 2 years later I realised...

But year, it might not be the cheeriest of Christmas specials really...

Are you kidding? Death and misery are staples of the Christmas schedule. Every single soap will pile on the misery and woe, and there's always a war film on every day.

The Doctor 'dying' is small fry compared to half the stuff the soaps will pull out. And at least he's going to save Earth/galaxy/universe/REALITY ITSELF in the process.
