Not my favorite character. He's actually No. 10 on my list but I still like him.

The only thing I didn't like was that genetic manipulation crap. I don't find it necessary for the character or the story.

I think that he was good as he was before they sneaked in that genetic manipulated stuff.
Just a somewhat confused character, a bit unhappy with some things in his past.

What about his family? I suppose Daddy Bashir could have been secretly buying his son all of his advantages throughout his life - bribing everyone, and Julian found out - wanted to do something on his own.

This has always been my main problem with Julian - and the reason why I can see him as the fluffy bunny other fans do. His treatment of Jadzia in particular was unacceptable.

Julian flirted with Jadzia, yeah, of course he did. But she clearly did not object. Even though she wasn't into him, she treated his attentions like the harmless fun that they were.

Whether he threatened her or not, it was clear he only wanted to be friends with her as a means to "win" her. His treatment of Worf in later seasons is evident of this.

And besides, Jadzia outranked Julian, so he was never in a position of power over her.

Not like his treatment of Sarina Douglas. Now THAT was creepy.

On Tribbles, on the turbo lift, he makes an argument that a temporal paradox might require him to have sex with the crew woman they just met, and why? Because she might be his great, great grandmother. Forget how that's genetic nonsense, since your DNA + someone else's won't eventually lead to exactly your DNA again. I would think. He wants to go have sex with a relative, with that as its own justification, that's the thing.

At least that gave rise to one of the funniest lines I've ever heard:

"All right. Fine. But I can't wait to see your face when we get back to DS9 and you found out that I NEVER EXISTED!"
