Dorn and Frakes about ST XI

Yeah, those who brought Trek back to TV in 1987, produced 25 seasons with 614 episodes and also did 4 movies. Clearly it would have been better had they never touched the franchise since they almost killed it.
Some people appreciate quality over quantity. ;-)

Dorn is looking good for his age! He definitely lost weight. I'm not used to hearing him talk in his "normal" voice. I'm assuming he does something to make his voice deeper when he plays Worf, and with the various voice acting jobs he has had.

I got the impression these guys were just having fun. At least they tried to entertain the crowd, which is more than I can say for many actors at conventions! I think they realize how hypocritical it would be for the "old generation" of Trek actors to complain about the new one. :)

Bingo. Plus, I think that dissing the movie would really come off as sour grapes - especially coming from these two, who have both made a LOT of money off of Star Trek over the years and who should not be begrudging others the opportunity to step up to the plate and have their own success.

Well, Dorn isn't wrong when he notes the idiocy of advanced worlds not doing anything about giant, ostensibly unidentified, ships entering orbit and firing beams at the planet. Much of this movie really does reach far far beyond anything that could be described as credible. You can make a case for Vulcan pacifism, I suppose, but Earth having no guns with which to defend the planet is just ludicrous.

Of course, I suppose one of Captain Picard's ancestors could be running things... "Sir, there's an alien ship in orbit." "Hail them" "No reply! ... Sir, they're drilling into the planet." "Uh oh... Suggestions?" "I suggest we shoot 'em down, sir." "I suggest we wait to see what happens. This could be the aliens' way of saying hello." "Officer thinking, Ensign. We'll wait..."

On topic, it was great to see Frakes and Dorn at a convention... I never actually saw these two, although I did see most of the other TNG cast members -- including Marina Sirtis in a mini skirt (I would have killed for a front row seat that day).

Well, I guess it can be argued that Trek 2009 has time to be credible. (It's only their first movie).

However, TNG had 4 four films, and the credibility in terms of writing, acting, logic....was questionable.(Moreover, Trek was routine rather than fun...and...and...everything else.)

Lucky...!

And think you and me both would have been on a killing spree for that front seat...;)

Hypothetically, of course...:p
