Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors

Hi Donny.

I'm glad to see you going back to your "roots" (I think that's a fair term).
I have looked in on your threads two or three times over the last few months and you don't seem to have done much, which is strange really because since Feb I have not bothered at all with modelling. I don't seem to have the motivation and of course all this virus devastation has been very depressing.
I for one will be cheered up by your posts of the original series so here's hope that you will find your mojo again.

Ian

Good news for all of us! And I agree about the lighting in the second and third seasons. It was certainly professional enough, but the first season cinematography was something all its own.

I'm not sure where you've gotten the idea that I "haven't seemed to have done much". As a matter of fact, the amount of work I've gotten done this year is pretty impressive, ha.
1) I started a K't'inga-class bridge
2) finished up my TMP and TWOK engineering sets
3) modeled the TMP and TWOK officer's lounge
4) started work on an updated TMP/TWOK sickbay set
5) modeled the TMP, TWOK, and TSFS Phasers
6) TWOK and TSFS communicators
7) TMP and TSFS Tricorders
8) modeled the Travel Pod

Plus I did some Star Wars work including:
9) Imperial TIE Fighter
10) Imperial TIE Advanced x1
11) BlasTech E-11 Blaster Rifle

On top of all this, I've modeled a ton of ships for the game I work on as my day job, Star Trek: Online. :D It's only the last 2-3 weeks that I've taken a break from any non-work modeling.

Just had to set the record straight that quarantine has been an immensely productive time for me!

This is already out? I have this in my Amazon wishlist for months. I thought it was coming out later this year, no?

Either way, thanks for that unpacking video, @Maurice. The book looks awesome. A shame the 4K remastering of The Motion Picture seems to be on hold because of the pandemic.

I think the book shipped.

3:42 in the video: the dropped matte shot of the San Francisco tram station, and they stupidly cover the city in the matte with a boring sketch. SMACK!

What 4K remastering of TMP are you referring to, @Michael? The Bruce Botnick referred thing?

I just got my copy today. There was an advance order directly through Titan Publishing, but I don’t know if that offer is still available.

Consider the record straightened. I have obviously been looking in the wrong place. My Bad :(

Is there more than one? I just saw this tweet the other day.
I had to drill backwards from that to The Digitial Bits...

Finally today, we have an update on a story we posted a couple weeks ago: You may recall that Bruce Botnick, the original score mixer for Robert Wise’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture, mentioned in a YouTube interview that he was remixing the score for Dolby Atmos. Well, we’ve now confirmed with Paramount—and Director’s Edition restoration supervisor Mike Matessino has confirmed it as well—that Botnick was talking about a music demo on the format only. Paramount wasn’t even aware of the project until they read about it on The Bits. And multiple sources tell me that the 4K film restoration project on the title is currently at on hold at the studio.

I've yet to see anything but rumor about a 4K restoration.

Oh, BTW, on a second look I realize that chunk of the Klingon bridge is the side room we never get a good look at in the film.
Nice. I'm glad I didn't go forward with the Klingon bridge now that the book has extra reference.

Nice to see you back to your roots Donny!

The rumour came from Bill Hunt to start with, although Daren Dochterman has made some hints. I'm not sure if it's really "on hold" so much as work never really started.

Let's hope something gives, because it seems like everyone wants it to happen. Fingers crossed!
