Re: Donny's TOS Enterprise Interiors
No. I was just speculating.
Did it even appear in TWOK?

Actually, I was talking about out here.![]()
Looks like the windows in the hall might be from Epsilon 9 though...

IIRC, the lobby was the forced-perspective foreground miniature, but the corridor was life-sized (we see Kirk and Spock walk down it, along with the guy cleaning the floor).
Precisely the article I was thinking of! Thanks for linking to it, I enjoyed reading it again after all these years.Looking good! So is this going to be torpedo bay 4?![]()
What's the plan for that anyway?
Ack. Without opening up a huge debate, this will be Torp Bay 2 with Torp Bay 1 (identical to this one, but flipped) just to starboard of this one. This realistically would not fit within the confines of the hull structure, but it's the only way IMO to reconcile the signage we see on-screen.
Torp Bays 3 and 4? Well, we're going to pretend those just don't exist, or that you just can't access them in my little virtual walkthrough here.
This was one of my favorite articles back when I was actively writing for the site...
Fascinating Trek Mysteries: The Torpedo Bays of the NCC-1701
Yes, that's the one. The globe is resting on a base on the floor, and the color of the base seems to blend in with the color of the floor, so it does have a kind of "floaty" appearance. What I love about this shot is that the floatiness of the globe aside, it's really really hard to tell what is model and what is set. That's some damn good work, and a good 15+ years before you could effectively do that stuff with CG.IIRC, the lobby was the forced-perspective foreground miniature, but the corridor was life-sized (we see Kirk and Spock walk down it, along with the guy cleaning the floor).
You mean here?
I always thought there was something a little off about the globe, but I could never quite put my finger on it. It's not really sitting on the floor that Kirk and Spock are standing on, even though it's supposed to look like it is, right?
Yeah, those old techniques stand the test of time. I'm sure there's a similar shot in Citizen Kane.Yes, that's the one. Which aliens?I had to read that twice to realize you meant the movie Aliens.
I honestly don't know how you people catch some of this stuff! So all I'll say is "Amazing work!"![]()
Yep!It never would have occurred to me that purpose-built sets would have been kept around for as long as they were, especially the TMP bridge and corridors.
I know the bridge was redressed many times until it was no longer recognizable (or usable), but were those basic corridors and others, like the transporter room, the same ones used in TNG and VOY?
Yep again! Though extensive changes (just like the bridge) would happen between and during the series. More was probably altered for Voyager after TNG's run than occurred for TNG after they took it over from the movies. Voyager was probably just rebuilt from the barest of TNG's bones, but definitely used the same floor plan and some significantly large design elements. If so, that's a long time for sets to stand that were basically intended to be disposable.
Most (if not all) were eventually struck after Voyager though. Enterprise got all new sets I believe.
