Donny's Refit Enterprise Interiors (Version 2.0)

These console panels are taking me 2 nights worth of work per station. One night for laying out the graphics, another for animating them and getting them in game. Luckily a few of them coming up are about half the size or less. I hope to have them all knocked out by next week so I can start on the display screens!
Anyway, here's the completed engineering console controls on the TMP bridge:

I don't know how you do it, mentally, but fantastic job. Reallllllyy nice work, mate

I'm not surprised it's taking a while to lay out all the controls on those. I can imagine the roughest part would have to be the Sciences station and perhaps the helm console.

I know when "Starship Farragut" was going to originally go into the TWOK era with "Farragut Forward," I was REALLY looking forward to it; before CBS / Paramount made something like that virtually impossible with those guidelines they came up with two and a half years ago. :(

Although I sympathize, let’s try and keep discussion of the CBS/Paramount guidelines off this thread, please! :techman:

Don't know if this i has been asked or answered, but what are you modelling in, blender or Maya? I'm looking to switch from Lightwave and not sure which to go with.

Neither. I model almost exclusively in 3ds Max with some dabbling in Zbrush when needed. I texture with Substance Painter and render with the Unreal 4 game engine. I should note that all my models are low to mid-res, utilizing normal maps with baked high-poly information so that they run smoothly in real-time.

It looks like a photograph of the set.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Spock's science station was always my favorite on the TMP bridge, and your attention to detail made me fall in love with it all over again, Donny.

You going to do a "smashed" variant of it when, most notably when Spock smashed the console in TMP to keep V'Ger's plasma probe from interfacing with the computer? :D LOL. Just being funny here.

Thanks for all the love! Again, this is one of those projects in which I’m updating my previous renditions and was quite concerned that the differences would be negligible. Not the case! I can’t wait to show the final renders with a comparison shot like I did with the corridors.

Donny are you going to do a video of this work for us all?

Of course! I'm in the home stretch but there's actually still a good bit of work to be done before I'm ready to take videos. I also want to model out the docking port behind the bridge before finishing up as well.
I'm sick (and tired) so of course I put on TMP and TWOK. This project gave me lots of new places to look!
Feel better soon!

[EDIT] FYI, here's a list of all the remaining work on the bridges:
1) Finish console controls (Finished Security, Damage, and Environment yesterday. Gravity, Helm, and Weapon's console left to go. Also need to model Captain's chair controls)
2) All bridge viewscreens (both static displays, animated monitor displays, plus the main viewer, for which I hope to have several options)
3) Reliant auxiliary consoles' display panels
4) TMP Enterprise Mini-Transporter
5) Grissom custom floor piece.
6) Grissom dedication plaque (We don't see a dedication plaque in the Enterprise or Reliant, unfortunately, and there are no "off-screen" places to put them on the bridge that make sense, so if I do model dedication plaques for those they will be elsewhere on the ship). But there's a spot on the Grissom bridge that is screaming "PUT A DEDICATION PLAQUE HERE" due to the way I have the station's arranged)
7) Dynamic red alert lighting schemes
8) Docking Port area behind bridge (for the Enterprise and Reliant). This will also require me to finish up my EV suit model (see here), since this area will feature an EV suit locker.
9) TSFS Configuration?
10) And then of course I want to do a TVH configuration, but this will probably be at a later date, in hopes that better reference for the console panel graphics comes around.

So, you see, although it seems like work is almost done, I still have a good chunk to finish.
