Domino's Pizza changed it's recipe

There is only one non-chain pizza place that's anywhere near my house. I tried it once, but I didn't like it - too much cheese, not enough crust.

To be fair, you could recognize that people are just having a little fun (albeit at your expense) and all around everyone is wearing a smile.

:guffaw: Now THAT's funny. Funniest thing I've heard all week, in fact. :p (I would recognize it, actually...if it were true. ;) )

To be fair? How about fair to people who don't like eating rancid leftovers? (Actually, to *be* fair, I rarely eat breakfast of any kind. Don't get up early enough. But on the occasion that I do, you can be sure it ain't gonna be old expired pizza that isn't even HOT.)

Yeah, you're definitely taking this whole business wayyyyyyyyyyyyy too seriously. ;)

I hear that happens when you don't eat enough cold leftover pizza. :D

I worked for this chain back in college. I never had to take a lunch since we waited for the buffet stuff to be taken off of the line and back to the kitchen "to be thrown away." We'd jump on that stuff like a pack of starving wolves.

The best thing on their menu was what they called a "ranch pizza." Now, bear with me- I know it sounds gross- which in place of tomato based sauce uses Ranch dressing. Then they top it with bacon bits, onions, tomato and green peppers.

I had the first slice of that heavenly stuff I'd had in 4 years last week. It was the best. Pizza. EVER!

There was a place in Tempe, AZ called Cosmic Pizza that made some awesome specialty pies. It was right near ASU and they always delivered until the wee early morning.

I think they went out of business around the time the street in front of them was being torn up to make way for the Light Rail system.

That sounds delicious and I'm not kidding. There is a little pizza place here called Pizza Hotline. They serve a Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza that I'd be willing to punch a nun for if it meant I could order one faster. The only downside is that they don't deliver and they're two towns over. Still, it is goooood.

It's even better cold.

And next time I do find myself with leftover pizza, I'm going to HEAT IT THE FUCK UP. Hear that? It's going to be HOT and COOKED and SAFE and TASTY and not eaten for fucking BREAKFAST.

Yes, because fully cooked crust, sauce, cheese and toppings that have been properly stored in the refrigerator overnight are "rancid" the next morning. You're taking paranoia to a whole new level, here.

Good Lord, dude. You don't like cold pizza in the morning? That's fine. Stop acting like people are going to hammer you to a cross for it, though, just because they're ribbing you.

I don't eat chain pizza. Gross.

Generally speaking, I agree (although my low-carb diet doesn't let me eat pizza, so it's a moot point, anyway), as all of the local places I grew up with in Chicago are far superior to chains (especially Dan's Pizza in Downers Grove, holy shit), and most of the local places here in eastern Iowa are far superior to any chain here, too. The only exception is Happy Joe's, which is a small corporation with locations in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri and North Dakota -- and they're excepted because all of the dough is made fresh, and the ingredients are locally grown and purchased, as opposed to the pre-packaged garbage that places like Pizza Hut, Papa John's and Domino's use. Happy Joe's also has absolutely amazing taco pizza.

Speaking of reheating pizza, don't use the microwave or even the toaster oven. Take a skillet and set it on the stove at very low heat. Let the skillet get heated up, and then put the pizza on it. Cover it, and let it sit for a while -- at least ten minutes. The skillet acts as a pizza stone, heating the pizza through, while covering it keeps the moisture in and keeps the pizza from drying out.

What's this? Someone sells tubs of butter with their pizza?

What a world!

Sells? Little Caesars offer two tubs, for free with bread sticks (not sure about pizza), and it cames in about six different flavors. I tried one the other day, Garlic Butter -- which tastes extremely like the butter they put on the bread sticks.

Seriously. People are snobs about the weirdest things!

Tell me about it.

Last few responses I got (in summary):
Cold breakfast pizza...wah wah wah...if you don't eat it you're a sissy girly-man...wah wah wah...cold, rancid rotten crap is better than real breakfast food like pancakes and waffles and eggs and cereal...wah wah wah...take your food poisoning like a man...wah wah wah...

Dude, you're not going to get food poisoning from eating pizza in the morning unless you've left it out all night. Which I've done and still not gotten food poisoning. But that's besides the point.

I once worked at DOMINOS, years ago...I mean, years ago when if it was 30mins late it was free..and it went on the driver's record!!!!

Back then we hand tossed our pizza and made it to order (well done..lightly cooked). Ever since they switched to their pre-fabbed dough it just hasn't been the same...IMO...

Now, last week, I had the best PIZZA I have ever had in my life, right here in San Diego!!!! If any of my fellow SAN DIEGO friends want to try it, its called LA BELLA PIZZA and is located in Chula Vista at 373 Third Avenue..well worth the trip!!!

I've never been a Domino's fan. As I get older, I like the big chains less and less. Little Ceasar's and Pizza Hut will do in a pinch.

I grew up in NYC, so I like non-chain pizzas best. And yes, the best damn pizza in the world was two blocks from my house. :p

Closest thing to New York style pizza I've had where I live (in Virginia) is Bridges Brick Oven Pizza- but I guess that's a local chain. Their pizzas have very thin crusts, not a lot of sauce, and fresh mozzarella cheese sliced almost paper thin. I used to get pizza like that on Coney Island!

Ledo's is good, too, but the sauce can be a little too sweet.

I loved Godfather's Pizza as a kid, but they're now almost as rare as Arthur Treacher's is for fast seafood! :(

i always thought GODFATHER's was the best so called "chain" place. But I am with you, the older I get the less I eat pizza because NO one, nationally, can make a good pizza.

I am glad I found this La Belle's because it reminds me so much of Godfather's pizza..and is even better!!

I seem to recall hearing that Dominos got in shit over that, sued or something by a driver(s?) cause they had tickets and accidents trying to meet the delivery deadline. Or was that a local only thing?

I am confident that all the speeding we did on the backroads was the direct cause of all the SPEED bumps that are on those very roads now....I remember zooming around that city in my green suped up Pinto very well!!!

Domino's (and most pizza chains, really) has a reputation for being rather scuzzy to its drivers. Not only do drivers get paid below minimum wage (and that $2 "delivery fee" that's tacked on doesn't go to the driver, but back to the store), but they have to fork out for their own gas. The only chain I'm aware of that doesn't do this is the aforementioned Happy Joe's; one of the terms of the franchise agreement stipulates that the owner of the prospective franchise must purchase a fleet of vehicles and furnish them with fuel for drivers.

Back in Highschool I applied for a summer job at Dominos my senior year. The Manager told me: If I wanted to keep a clean driving record and no tickets, I might not want to work for Dominos, but if I didn't give a damn about that then welcome aboard  I turned the offer down after I sat there and thought about it for all of two minutes

back in the day, if you used your own car, Dominos did pay you so much per every mile (I forget how much.)

That has all changed by now, because you're right; the driver is insanely taken advantage of.

So, seriously, if this is the case, why does anyone actually DO this job? You'd do better flipping burgers at McDonalds or whatever, surely? Is it actually HARDER to get a job at Maccy D's compared to delivering pizza?
