Felicia Day (Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog) just Twittered:

Man, day getting worse and worse. Found out my Dollhouse ep. #13 isn't gonna air. Only on DVD. Such a great part, too. Thx Fox :(
If this is the case, it definitely looks like FOX has screwed Joss once again - why does he fall for it, and why do they bother? Why pay someone to develop an expensive show and then not commit to it? Personally, I thought the show had been improving steadily.

This also means we won't see Alan Tudyk on the air, either. :(

*non-coherent sputtering and fuming*

Okay, not that I'm hugely attached to Dollhouse, but missing out on Felicia Day & Alan Tudyk pretty much stinks.

Dollhouse is crap, I really wanted to like it, but it's just not a good show and the whole idea of the Dollhouse was stupid to begin with. I'm really not sad to see it go.

Shit. I was going to make a point to watch that ep. Tudyk one the one element in the show that had a small chance of rekindling my interest.

At least Tudyk will have a major role on V next fall.

Here's the THRfeed article.

Too bad. Can't say I love it, but I like it enough to want to see it continue. Bummed to just now learn "Wash" was going to be on it.

If anyone cares, it was reported the other day that Tahmoh Penikett has joined SyFy's backdoor pilot TV movie "Riverworld."

Oh well. I guess Saint Joss isn't infallible and has to return to the realm of comics where his flock, in between denouncing the rest of us for not appreciating his "genius", will buy every issue of his books. So very sad.

Yeah I saw that, but after all, Ballard isn't essential to the series. They could bring in a different FBI agent for that role. It's weird because Skiffy already gave Riverworld a shot - they aired it a couple, three years ago or something. I didn't much care for it then, why are they bothering again? There are plenty of sci fi novels they could adapt. They should have aired the Revolution backdoor pilot instead. At least let us see it!

You can't blame FOX for canceling Dollhouse. It's a low rated show that even struggles to keep hardcore Whedon fans interested.

You can blame them for putting it on on Friday thus negating any chance it had of finding an audience though.

You can also blame them for cynically holding back one episode to make fans buy the DVD.

Well considering all the behind the scenes shenanigans that got reported before the series even started it seems like Fox had their reasons for the deathslot, but looks like they fucked the show with the changes they wanted anyway.
I can't disagree with you on the holding back an episode for the DVD sales. at all, though.

hey, be lucky you will only miss ONE episode until the dvd, Greg the Bunny had 8 unaired episodes made

This time, I'm not really sure I can agree that Fox 'screwed' Joss Whedon again. Even this last batch of supposedly un-tampered-with episodes have been barely interesting. I won't be sad to see this one go, and I hope the Mutant Enemy folks come up with something better next time.

Personally, I thought the show had been improving steadily.

This is the problem right here. Why couldn't the show have been good to begin with? Why should any audience be expected to wait for something to maybe start getting good?

I'm a Whedon fan but I haven't seen any of Dollhouse at all yet, and don't even know that much about it. I'll either wait for the UK airing or the DVD; I can't be bothered watching it online by some nefarious methods.
Can't say I'm surprised though if it is the case, it did seem to have "quick cancellation" written all over it

Why couldn't TNG be good for the first 3 seasons? Why did Star Trek fans always have to "wait for 3 season" for the shows to find their feet? Why do networks have to mess with shows and "improve" them?

The "talent" don't make shows in a vacuum they more often than not have to bend to the will of the execs. I'm not saying that's an excuse for poor shows all the time, but there has been a noticable improvement of Dollhouse since they got to the "untampered" episodes.
