I enjoyed it. Primarily seeing normally uptight people tripping out. Maybe because I've done my share of acid and it reminded me of old fun...

DeWitt and Dominic seemed to be really disturbed and affected after their trip, moreso than everyone else. This is because they go through life making more rationalizations for their behaviour, and they were forced to confront who they really were.

We didn't see Topher the morning after, but I'd suspect that he was minimally affected, he doesn't cover up who he is to the world and he doesn't make excuses or rationalizations, he is just openly a geek and was still openly a geek when he was high.

Likewise, Boyd recovers nicely because he is very ernest and honest. Which makes me wonder what the fuck he is doing working for Dollhouse to begin with. There is an untold story there.

Carolyn in the past was very "real" to me. I've known people like her. I think I dated one or two. Not everyone is a natural born genius, but all the same people can have convictions and act on them. There is intense irony in her getting cornered into being a lab rat for a subsidiary of the organization she was being an activist against.

Victor seems to have a very different past, like post traumatic stress disorder and he needed wiping more than he needed a deal.

We learned nothing about Sierra there, which means another story to come in the future, they held it back for a reason I think.

The episode really opened up about what Dollhouse is, who our Dolls are, how they got involved, etc. A lot of information crammed effectively into what was really just the 'B' plot. It was effective because it was "Show, don't Tell". We saw first hand enough info to understand where this all came from, without a ton of exposition. The way the story was structured, by leaving us pretty much in the dark for the first half dozen episodes, this was a good way to finally reveal.

I find it odd that last episode DeWitt purposefully left (Ballard's girlfriend - insert name) in place, and this episode she moves out. More going on there than I could figure out.

Terrible. Seemed like it went on for hours and hours.

The sooner this gets cancelled, the less apologizing I will have to do for Whedon later on.

Enjoyed it moreso than any episode to date. I'm warming to both Topher and DeWitt.

Despite the laundry list of plot elements, I found this episode uninvolving for some reason. I wonder if this might be because it is a true ensemble show. Whedon is great at creating three dimensional personalities for all cast members - Firefly was a good example of this. This episode of Dollhouse zipped back and forth through the entire cast, without a real focus on anyone. Or maybe the focus was on Echo/Caroline, and I'm still having my same old problem of being unable to feel much empathy for her.

I'll still keep watching; I'm hoping for better episodes or more empathy in the future.

Looks like I'm the only one who actually likes Topher. I liked this episode, not brilliant, but it was fun, and did give some insights in to the characters.

I like him a lot, but not because he's likeable. Although there are moments when he plays like a parody of a Whedon Smartalecky Kid.

I'm all for DeWitt. Milf City.

^that's nice, although you MIGHT have given up prematurely, or you could be on to something about giving up in the long run. We shall see, because it's kind of sort of picking up steam.

I like it. Not Whedon's best work but it is enjoyable to watch. Plus Eliza riding a Ducati in heels and a short skirt! C'mon that alone deserves a second season.

If this didn't have Whedon's name on it, I'd be right there with you.

But Whedon's name raises the bar. Or at least it should.

It just breaks my heart to see his name on something so mundane.

I don't need "Dollhouse" to be like other Whedon shows. I just need it to have that special something. And some T&A (much as I enjoy such things) just doesn't cut the mustard.

I think he's funny in a dumb way. His scenes with Dewitt made the episode for me.

And I agree with those that don't like Echo's backstory, who she really is. She was uninteresting and unappealing to me.

Agreed. You may not agree with everything Whedon does but he makes you care about the characters. I just finished up Astonishing X Men Vol. 2 and I almost teared up at another Whedon written arc.
