yay - some-one else who likes rotties :)
(okay I like lots of big dog breeds but the family had a rottie for 13 years and he's still missed).

That's a good age and I know what you mean because I grew up with four rotties and they all had their own character. My uncle used to breed them and gave one to my mum as a Christmas present in 1984 and they bought one from another litter by the same parents in 85 and they both lived to 12.

Then my parents got Molly which is the one I posted earlier with the ball and lying on the fireplace. The other photo I posted near the sofa and the butter wouldn't melt look is Xena. She survived Parvo as a puppy and was my best friend. This is a painting of Xena by my niece's father.

I miss that mutt. She used to love singing to music and there was something about Superman Lovers - Starlight that would make her howl non-stop throughout the whole song.

We had a German Shepard who was getting on in years so thought was given to getting another dog and my brother wanted to get a rottweiler and I had to admit I was a bit worried because of the general bad press they seem to get.

My brother did his research found a good breeder and got a puppy with good bloodlines (though American rather than European). My brother had thought of breeding him, but lifting the leg once too often in the house resulted in a snip.

He soon showed who was boss the GSD but they were fine together. In 2004 my sister's Shih-Tzu/Maltese-X came to live with us and she and the rottie got on like a house on fire.

(backyard didn't normally look like that - was clean out the sheds time).

Oh and the laws in Australia were changed which meant that tail docking was banned but our was pre-change so he just a stump that got lots of wagging.

Now I live vicariously with other people's dogs :)

This is Cocoa who belongs to one of my wife's support workers. She's about 2 years old and was rescue dog and has come a long way since they got her.
