Does the Enterprise have a movie theatre?

In several episodes of TNG, they show them in a big room. (I presume it was a cargo area) Where a stage was built and then taken down. Data performed quartets. There were the theatres that Riker practiced in and then tore down. I would say the same place could easily have been used for the same reason to project a movie onto a wall.

However, when you have a room that can BE a 3D projection of what ever or WHO ever you want, that movie just doesn't cut it. It's like that movie Last Action Hero where the kid got to be IN the movie. It's a lot different than just watching.

Wasn't that large room a redress of the ten-forward set? It got used for a lot of things, that's for sure!

In "Conscience of the King" we see Kirk's ship did indeed have a theater big enough for a stage and limited seating. The set was a redress of of the "Charlie X" Gymnasium set which was itself a redress of Engineering. I expect that the "real" theater could well have shown old 2D pictures as well.

Also the Rec Deck in TMP had that big ol' screen where the assembled crew watches the grim fate of Epsilon IX. Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise claimed that that could display old school movies as well. Seems reasonable.

The Enterprise from Star Trek XI had a full size opera hall. Right next to the eighteen lane bowling alley.

On Deck 47, there's a full size drive-in.

Wouldn't lens flares interfere with proper movie viewing?

Nah, drive-in, filled with 8,472 1957 Chevy convertibles, and a really kickass concession stand. Every Friday, they run "Manos, the Hand of Fate".

Considering what we learned of Kirk's ancestry in "Spectre of the Gun," I should think this film would be more to his taste.

TOS Enterprise: Either simulcast in the various rec rooms and monitors for those who can't get off duty. Or set up a big screen in front of the clamshell doors in the hangar deck and break out the lawn chairs.

TNG: Holodeck 3. And the aforementioned monitors for the poor shmucks who can't get off duty.
