We see Space Scotland in Sub Rosa. 'Tis a silly place.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Pegg's wife (who, as was just said, actually is Scottish) actually HELP him with creating his Scotty accent?
I've lived in Scotland for well over thirty years. It sounds fine to me, and certainly more authentic than Doohan's. YMMV.Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Pegg's wife (who, as was just said, actually is Scottish) actually HELP him with creating his Scotty accent?
Yes she did. It's still not a great Scottish accent though.
No, you don't need to go that far. In fact, since you already posted the same thing last year (and even then it doesn't seem to have been an accurate quote) you really didn't need to post at all.Craig Ferguson once said that Doohan's Scotty accent sounds like "a Pakistani with a stroke". Don't know if I'd go that far...
Pegg's Scotty is comic relief, intense, action films normally have them so it's okay. I think actor who's actually doing a parody is Karl Urban's Dr. McCoy; I know there were moments in TOS where he would get excited but not in every scene he had. Urban does that crap in every scene he's in, completely monkeying off of the reactions from DeForest Kelley instead of making the McCoy character his own.
