You know, some days I like my job, some days I can't stand it. Some days I'm positive, some days bitchy, some days I just plain lie about my feelings because, hey, it's really nobody's business but my own. But I'd hate to think that someone would take something I said on some random day and paint my whole career with that brush.
Wouldn't you get irritated at playing the role of a hero and always have to live up to it, or be diplomatic about it, and not be able to say, just once, "Man frak this screwy job!" publicly or risk alienating basically your entire fan base forever? I know I would.
So..I have chosen not to be famous. Yeah, that's why.![]()
But as I said, Star Trek didn't even come into the conversation.
The guy was just an asshole. Plain and simple.
Sounds like constructive critizism too me, honestly.Several years ago Stewart did a Symposium (with other actors) at the university my aunt teaches it. She got me a couple of tickets and a friend of mine went.
The discussion was mostly of acting in theater and such. He was dismissive and pretentious. And one point a girl gave an anecdote of how her high school did King Lear--I forget if she said she was Regan or Cordelia. In any case, he went off on this silly rant of how high schools shouldn't be doing the more "sophisticated" Shakespeare because students of the age lack the maturity and such to fully absorb the whole of the story. blah blah blah.
Whether, he was right or not really wasn't the point. The whole thing seemed irrelevant and unwarranted and it was getting to the point to where he was basically he was belittling this poor girl and her school's drama department.
Then after he was really dismissive of anyone who wanted an autograph. "It's not why I'm here."
I met him last month, he was the nicest sweetest guy ever!!!

Well, don't leave us hanging! What's the story?

If you're an aspiring actor, that's something you have to get used too.
Frankly, I agree with him.
High School theater and the students of it don't have the complete grasp emotionally of Skakespeares work. Ever see a High School play of Shakespeares work? It's dreadful. Most High School theater can't even get "Death of a Saleman's" emotional complexity.
So he was stand-offish, I can see that.Sounds like constructive critizism too me, honestly.

Well, as I said the validity of his argument as I too mostly agree with what he said, but it was just the tone in his voice an his demeanor was very off-putting.
There is a right way and a wrong way for critiquing someone--his was the wrong one, especially to someone the girl's age.
I would ask her why she took the role in the first place. It never seemed the kind of job an actress like her would take on.If she did, I would compliment her on her perky nipples.

I give it to him and then he starts "yelling" at me saying how is he supposed to concentrate when this picture is staring him in the face and so on. It was funny. He's realy a nice guy

Here is a video of Captain Nicole Janeway.
I think Bujold was fired because of her perky nipples. The rest of the women on the cast and crew were intensely jealous. Jennifer Liens also had perky nipples and she was fired after a couple of seasons leaving Mulgrew and Dawson, whose nipples are certainly not as perky. Coincidence??? I think not.
The only actress with perky nipples left after the third season was Scarlett Johansson, but no one would fire her over that because being jealous of a 10 year old's perky nipples is just plain wrong.

it might have been funny to some when you're talking about grown women, but talking about a kid like that is just wrong
either way, Scarlett Johansson was never on the show
