Does anyone think Star Trek Legacy will ever happen?

if you think about it a new star trek legacy has alrighty started

star trek starfleet academy which i guess in a way kicked off a new era in the star trek universe

since the time frame in starfleet academy is in the 32nd century

A hypothetical TV series proposal by Terry Matalas about Captain Seven, Jack Crusher and Geordi's daughters based on Season 3 of Picard.

There is zero actual production going on. It's pure fan wishful thinking.
Ok. Now I know. Some fan fiction (0.00001%) has actually been published by legitimate commercial publishers. Most, of course, remains within the confines of fan fictiondom.

Hi. I’m new here. What is this “Legacy” that you’re all talking about? A TV series?

We've gotten Picard Funkos and a "No Man's Land" audio drama and novelization. We have a Star Trek Enterprise-G comic book series featuring Captain Seven of Nine coming out later this year.

I wouldn't call any of this "Nothing".

P+, quit tiptoeing around Legacy and give us our series!

Part of the problem with Legacy is that Matalas got rid of some characters and relationships that would have been worth exploring and replaced them with the annoying Jack Crusher and the forgettable LaForge girls. I guess if you want to take "Legacy" as literally meaning The Nepo Babies Show you'll use those characters, but hey, Kestra's at the Academy, but she's from the Matalas-free first season of Picard so she'll never be seen or mentioned again. Meanwhile my fave Picard character Laris is like Saavik and Ro Laren all over again, another fascinating character the franchise just inexplicably fumbles and drops. (Yes, they wanted Ro to be on DS9, but on TNG she had a great first episode, a great last episode, and not much worth remembering in between.)

The Terry Metalas Legacy concept doesn't feel like it's a successor to Picard, it feels like an attempt to shove most of it in a cupboard and forget about it.

What relationships did you have in mind?

The most annoying part is he gets a commission in to Starfleet and assigned a prestigious assignment. Based off of what?

IMHC, Starfleet is trying to keep him away from the Borg (for reasons of Federation security).

Giving him a commission and putting him aboard the E-G under Captain Seven of Nine (someone who knows the Borg better than anyone in Starfleet) would seem to accomplish the task.

This strikes me as extremely strange. So, you're a criminal, and a security risk, so we're going to put you onboard a ship facing risks all the time?

They have to do SOMETHING with him.

Putting him in jail would've been telling the Borg, "Here's your guy! Feel free to come get him!"

Raffi/Seven and the Riker/Troi family. For that matter, Beverly Crusher's relationships with the rest of the TNG gang.

Matalas destroyed Beverly Crusher as a character. The safest place for Jack Crusher always was and probably still would be in Labarre, France, where Picard lived in comfort and safety. Beverly Crusher's idea that she should cut off all ties with everyone she had ever known and that her son would be safer in a lawless area of space doing dangerous things was stupid, insane, and wildly out of character. All that just so Matalas could riff on Wrath of Khan, trying to surprise the audience by revealing the existence of a captain's son we hadn't known about.

Picard has many enemies.

There was a risk of enemies such as the Borg or the Romulans attacking Jack to get at Jean-Luc.

Plus, Picard is a celebrity. Fathering a child out of wedlock would've caused a scandal.
