Does anyone think Star Trek Legacy will ever happen?

Rethinking my original answer, if Skydance makes a renewed push for Trek then I can see them maybe doing something like Legacy. David Ellison thought Terminator Genisys was a genius move, after all. ;)

If Shaw died once, I can see him not wanting to do it again. :shifty:

WGA Schedule of Minimums

WGA members (I'm assuming this includes Terry Matalas) have to be paid for doing outlines (which means either P+ or Alex Kurtzman commissioned him to do it).

It's one thing to scratch out some notes. Writing a 30 page outline is a commitment.

WGA doesn't want people working for free (that was one reason they went on strike).

This is something far more significant than just Terry tossing an idea out there (something serious enough for P+ to throw cash at it).

So we have:

- Matalas saying Legacy is in the fans’ hands.

- Goldsman saying Year One is in the fans’ hands.

- CBS/Paramount, who NEVER make productions based on what the fans want, have greenlit absolutely nothing beyond SFA season 2.

- Skydance, who probably have a pretty good understanding of why 4 out of 5 P+ Trek shows have been cancelled (and the one that didn’t only had 3 seasons anyway), is most likely going to just come up with their own idea for the next show, if they even decide to allocate their resources in that direction as opposed to making an actual theatrical film.

I still say it was a cost containment measure.
