So, the trek of the future is going to be all secrecy and stuff Seems silly to me not to let some stuff be seen and get people talking about it. Its like free advertisement. Especially if a person is interested and wants to find out more about it. This may backfire.

They will, at the right time. The right time isn't a year in advance of the film coming out where all the steam can run out before opening day. This won't backfire.

Trust me in the run up to the film we'll have all the press you can aim a phaser at and more. But not before it even gets edited.

The current secrecy is a big thing for me, really it indicates a serious effort to control the release of the film. A real commitment. I find that the release of the very trailer for Star Trek (in the upcoming Cloverfield monster movie) is the main reason for the effort. I'm excited they care so much for the film that they will premier the trailer without giving away anything.

The second that trailer hits, the Internet will explode.
