There is some actual information. J.J. Abrams is directing, it features the TOS characters recast, with Chris Pine replacing William Shatner, Zach Quinto replacing Leonard Nimoy, and Karl Urban replacing DeForest Kelley. Leonard Nimoy will also appear in this film, as will Simon Pegg (as Scotty), Eric Bana and Winona Ryder, among others. Michael Giacchino is writing the score, Orci & Kurtzmann have written the script; the film will premiere in Christmas, 2008. Information of this sort is publicly available and formally disseminated knowledge.
As regards hard specifics of the plot, there are rumours about time travel and Romulans. The canon issue is similarly contentious, as is William Shatner's involvement or non-involvement.

Don't forget the tribbles. There will be a cameo appearance of the little fuzz balls... although I have a hard time imagining how that will fit in with established "canon" since (according to the timeline of the original series) Kirk and crew do not encounter tribbles until well into the second year of their five year mission.

Can you imagine Spock's song? It starts out with coldly esoteric rhythms, but then with the shimmer of glissandos suggests the emotions thundering beneath the surface?
I'm taking this more seriously than it warranted, but hey, besides Just Imagine!, the sci-fi musical is an underused genre.

From CHUD.com, the whole experience for the cast is been highly top secret. Traveling in golf carts covered in a black canvas, unable to walk around freely in costume and traveling in groups. I'm wondering why we are not seeing a brief synopsis posted by paramount or at least an official photo of the crew in costume.

if you kept up with a certain website you would have read Paramount's recent official synopsis and know they plan on releasing official photos

Each in their own time. Mind telling me why people act like this secrecy is being viewed as some kind of production flaw by a segment of fandom? Its the way Abrams does things, and for this project its a GOOD THING!

This secrecy is just perfect from a fan base perspective, i.e., the less the faithful or even disgruntled Trekkie knows, the more they'll come a-salivatin' come premiere time.
As for John Q. Public, they could care less about spoilers or secrecy. They will see the film based on word of mouth or dim memories of Kirk and Spock.
