I don't care about Muniz either way. I didn't even know who he was until I read posts in this thread that explained that.
I do think it's lame when show runners try to design characters like Muniz, who have not been seen before, to create all-tragic-like feelings in the audience. That makes me feel annoyed, not tragicified.
IMO to make that ploy work they'd need either a really good actor, or 5 episodes in which the character features prominently, or both.
