Does anyone else dislike Raffi?

And?

Find the need, and you potentially change the behavior. Ignore the need behavior intensifies.

Stupid behaviorist school.
Finding the need as you say, can be a good start to the road of recovery, or at least management of a mental illness, addiction or personality disorder, But ultimately it's up the sufferer to make the appropriate changes. So, in the context of PIC, it seems Raffi is acknowledging her issues and attempting to change for the better.

Which is why I find her a valuable character. If a bit frustrating.

Hits a bit close to home for me. Probably does for many folks.
Probably so. Still valuable.

I don't say that to be flip. I cry at the opening of ST 09 because I saw that movie right before my first child was born. I cry at the end of Balance of Terror for Tomlinsons Widow. I get too close to home. But, for me, where I'm at, I'll feel it no matter how close it gets.

As for S2, I can't stand her. Herd's performance hasn't gotten worse, but the writing of her character has turned her into a hot-headed imbecile - although in fairness, the writing of this season hasn't done any of the characters favours in the grey matter department.

She watched her adopted son Elnor die in her arms. She's grieving. She's been thrown four hundred years back in time.

It's all she can do to hold it together.

/We almost went the whole 2nd season without “JL” but she said it in the finale

I dislike her. Person as Raffi can not be Starfleet office. She is 100% unstable. And I stay behind my words. Simple as that.

They have a funny view of entry requirements for service.

You probably wouldn’t be able to get into Starfleet if you were a smack head at any point.

None of our current space agencies would let you join if you suffered from depression, that shit needs car like reflexes.

Raffi is a ridiculous character, in the likes of Reginald Barkley, and Uncle Arthur from "Bewitched". Something tells me, the writers was trying to duplicate a kinda - sort of - McCoy clone which went horribly wrong. Whether the writing is just that bad or the actress is consistently delivering the performance completely off track; me thinks its the writing. I agree with you, that character is definitely off model in the standards of Star Fleet... but hey, we've had other off model Star Fleet characters before and remember where they ended up?

She didn't appear to be a character who would survive too long in this CBS + Universe, and with her new relationship presented it may come to fruition. Its hard for me to believe a person in Jean-Luc Picard's stature, OF COURSE from TNG, would ever deal with a silly character like that.

And?

Isn't Starfleet supposed to be more accepting? Barclay, all those crew from Good Shepherd on Voyager. Hell, Starfleet brought Picard back after the Borg but still sidelined him for a battle against the Borg.
