Documentary: Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage - Discussion and Grading

Re: Documentary: Rush - Beyond the Lighted Stage - Discussion and Grad

Mine still hasn't come yet.

:scream:

But since the tour started last night, here's a little taste of what's to come this summer: Camera Eye

Not professional quality, but you get the idea...

:techman:

Have you checked out the other links on that page? The "2nd set intro/Tom Sawyer" is hilarious!!!

No I don't want to have the video part of the show spoiled too much.

But Camera Eye, I couldn't help myself.

Is anyone getting this DVD? If I go to Wal-Mart, I'll pick it up.

Congrats to this band who made it to where they were on their own terms, and not giving in to this idea of being cool, hip, or conforming to some kind of set model or standard. I can't wait to see this film!

Very well said! I admire a band who just do what they want to do, whether it's 'trendy' or not, and not conform to the shallow music industry's expectations. Rush, Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, Marillion, Opeth, Dream Theater forever! Can't wait to see this film!

^ that's why I was unhappy when the film glossed over the Presto Roll the Bones sound. Presto was what really moved me.. I liked Moving pictures and was already a big fan, but Presto was such a mature record, it rocked hard but was netiher fast, heavy nor relentlessly dark like most hard rock albums, and it reflects a maturity that the band had obviously worked hard to hone in on.

YES YES YES.. My one disappointment in the film was glossing completely over the Presto/RtB era.. Those were seminal (sp?) CD's for me. The music was/is brilliant and I felt really let down that they weren't even really mentioned.

Well, the deleted scenes contain one bit that expands that era.. commenting on Roll the Bones and the rap. It's something they must have decided to trim at the last minute, but it was a good scene. It still wasn't enough, though.
