Doctumentaries You Like

One of m favorite documentaries of all time is To Be and To Have, about a one-room school in the French countryside. I thought it was beautiful.

I find Supersize Me quite amusing, and look forward to seeing The Greatest Movie Ever Sold

Some well remembered classics, Salesman, Titicut Follies, Michael Apted's Seven Up series.

Young at Heart is also enjoyable, uplifting and a bit heartbreaking.

Winnebago Man (2009)
The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara (2003)
The War Room (1993)

There are few as good as the classic WW2 documentary World At War.

I also love any of the documentaries hosted by former Python Terry Jones.

Yeah, this is wonderful. Some other good ones:

Mad Hot Ballroom
Spellbound
Autism: the Musical
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill

I have a special on DVD called America's Classic Ballparks. It's about four, well, classic ballparks. :p Two still exist today (Fenway Park and Wrigley Field) and two no longer do (Tiger Stadium and Comiskey Park).

It's very fascinating for a baseball freak like me - especially since I never got the chance to see those last two parks. Although I do have a 'best-of' Tigers DVD set which has three games from Tiger Stadium on it.

Also I like Yankee Stadium - Baseball's Cathedral (all about old Yankee Stadium, from its construction to demolition) and the Mets equivalent, Shea Goodbye: 45 Years of Amazin' (about Shea Stadium).

The Civil War by Ken Burns.

This is the best documentary you will ever see about the American Civil War. It was narrated by David McCullough and features interviews with many historians including Shelby Foote.

That's an amazing documentary, lives up to all the hype.

I also loved Rivers and Tides about the land artist Andy Goldsworthy.

In the middle of watching it now after seeing this thread:

In the Shadow of the Moon.

Netflix makes listings like this easy, I just sort by rating and find all the titles in the Documentary category. Here are my 5/5 stars:

The Civil War
Rivers and Tides
Crumb
Planet Earth
No Direction Home: Bob Dylan
The Fog of War
Touching the Void
Connections
Restrepo

Cosmos

I've been watching The Universe series as well. It's not 5/5 consistently, but some episodes are. I'm impressed they could take a subject like "water" and do a whole hour on it from a physics perspective and make it absolutely engaging.

I'll also echo "Who Killed the Electric Car"

For a similarly political documentary, but involving beer, I highly recommend "Beer Wars." Although, it might be a bit depressing.

Blue Planet and Life After People are both very good as well.

Another great one is This Film is Not Yet Rated. The MPAA is a joke.

I enjoyed this one as well. It was pretty entertaining, and the subject matter was good as well.

In the Shadow of the Moon.

Yeah, this is an awesome doc. Probably one of the best I've seen within the past few years, actually. Trailer:
