It was only gone for a few hours. Certainly less than a day. Not enough time for the planets and moon to drift too far out of alignment.

Drift?

:guffaw:

Whenever life get you down, Mrs. Brown
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had quite enu-hu-hu-huuuuff

Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at 900 miles an hour
That's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power
The sun and you and me, and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the Milky Way

Our galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars
It's 100,000 light-years side-to-side
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light-years thick
But out by us it's just 3000 light-years wide
We're 30,000 light-years from galactic central point
We go round every 200 million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whiz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space
Because there's bugger all down here on Earth

It's a book called Doctor Who: Made of Steel by Terrance Dicks

Have finally gotten around to watching this for a second time, and have voted Fantastic- that it gets that inspite of some terrible bits says a lot about how well the good parts were done.

Would have been a better episode without Rose and Martha TBH (Seriously was there a point to Martha's story? It's like her story in The Doctor's Daughter which had no impact on the main tale.)

Freema must have some seriously incriminating photos that's all I can say!

Davros- brilliant, Wilf- brilliant, clone Doctor- surprisingly engaging, think I prefer him to the real 10! Tennant- brilliant as always, the scene of him in the TARDIS at the end...well Tennant at his subtle best (he doesn't do it often enough he's usually too busy SHOUTING)

And of course, Miss Donna Noble- Fan-tastic!

O.....k.

I now find myself listening to Eric Idles singing in my head.

And thats always good. :techman:

I agree with you.

The whole 'Rose is coming back' Hype was just wasted.

IT wasnt engaging, Freema, bless her, had the shittiest story line and dialogue of them all, infact, i dont really remember Camille or Noel actually doing anything than just being there for the sake of being there.

The whole Rose aspect was just wasted and lost part way through. Why bring her back with bothing to do but to shoot Daleks and lisp her way through bad dialogue.

But that aside, it was nice to see everyone, especially around the console. It reminded me of Serenity when the entire cast were back around the dining table again.

Stupid slip-ups like this just make me laugh.

k, When Mickey says "I'll miss you most of all" to Jacquie and they hugged, was i the only one thinking that there was a Mrs Robinson thing going on with the two if them? I mean Mickey's character is considerably older than Rose, old enough to hit on her at 19 when she she was still just a baby in Fathers Day... It has one wondering how much like Pete that kid of his looks like Pete?

That sounded more like Dorothy's final line to the Scarecrow in The Wizard Of Oz.

Noel Clarke (who plays Mickey) has (jokingly?) stated he thought Mickey was bedding Jackie while Rose was off on her adventures with the Doctor. After she figured out he wasn't responsible for Rose's disappearance, she was cooking him Sunday lunch every week... and Jacs has an eye out for anything male with good muscle tone... if Elton Pope caught her eye I'm sure Mickey would fit onto her "to-do" list...

I was going to bring up how she said to Elton that all the little odd jobs around the house that she wanted him to do to her used to be Mickey's domain... but it just seemed droll.

Nah. In Father's Day it's obvious that Mickey thinks of Jacs as a surrogate mother, if anything. He "misses her most" because she was the only real constant in his life, what with Rose running off into time/space.

What are you talking about Mickey "hitting" on Rose in Father's Day? He was the little kid on the swings that ran to the church...

I have to say, the only few times I cringed were from Tennant's fake "HA!" thing he does, which was just bad when he repeated it right after DrDonna, and Sarah-Jane crying about Luke being young, or something, when the Daleks showed up. Sarah doesn't cry. Not really. Not ever. It's a weakness I don't remember ever seeing in her all the years. Felt wrong and overdone.

Other than that, there was something so satisfying about seeing all the gang together one last time. This being the original production team's swansong season, and with the hiatus, it truly felt like the end to the series. I'm glad it's not, though.

Because she's one of the family now.

Oh, your hatred of Martha...does it know no end?

Best actress they've had for a companion. She had depth, and the best story so far. :techman:

(puts on his nerdy fanboy glasses) Sure she has. I can think of two ocassions right off the bat. Back when the 3rd Doctor was regenerating and she though he was dead.
And again when she thought the 4th had been choked to death by one of Sutekh's mummies.
Seemed perfectly normal to me.

Teen Rose said that mickey kept grabbing her, as in actualy hugging her, I think they may have said something like he was bonding with her, like a sort of cute emotional attachment. It happened, it really did, in so far as a 6 year old knows enough to be able to hit on someone sorta like Sally hitting on Linus if you revolve the genders.

What IS IT with these fucking hats, anyway?!
You'll be sorry you asked.

Well, I don't ever remember any real tears on her face, or that unintelligible wailing she did when Pertwee was 'dying'. However, I have no real memories of the Pyramids of Mars, so maybe you're right about that one.

I don't know. It just felt too overdone or something. Not to mention that Luke kid is a h-o-r-r-i-d actor from what I've seen. That's got nothing to do with my point. Just thought I'd throw it in to get a rise out of wamdue...
