Who is River Song? I totally wasn't expecting this angle. And what the hell is going on with the little girl... I figure she's a personification of the Central Computer or this CAL or something.
It seems like someone from his future. The "Sweetie" reference was huge to it.

I was totally hooked on this ep, this is without a doubt the best ep so far. Roll on next week.

Agreed. I had to watch it again, as it was that good.

I just had the weirdest thought in my head. Ripping off a Muscles song. :guffaw::guffaw:

Did anyone see the toy robot behind the little girl? Was it just me or did it look a lot like the robot from Lost in Space.
It's Robby The Robot from Forbidden Planet - I think it's the Polar Lights model kit of him
Oh, duh! This isn't the first time I confused the two. :o

As for the spoiler code talk, I'm not going to look at your response, although I'll say I'm both surprised and relieved that my speculation isn't true. Curiouser and curiouser...

I presume he's refering to one of the girl's paintings on the wall of her home - a blonde woman, probably Rose.
Nope. It was a dialogue reference.

When Professor Song used the sonic disruptor to open a hole in the wall, the Doctor exclaimed "Squareness gun!", which, if you remember, was how Rose referred to the device in "The Doctor Dances", where Captain Jack had one.

See - told you it was oblique :).

There's a painting of a (bad?) wolf right under the painting of the blonde girl... A more likely Rose ref.

Thanks for the screen cap. I definitely missed the first time around. I was too busy looking at the robot model.

Robby the Robot did appear in an episode of Lost in Space. There's an urban myth that they're actually the same prop (they aren't) that stems from this.

Doctor Who suffered at the hands of the ITV1 hit Britain's Got Talent with unofficial figures showing that episode eight of Series Four, Silence in the Library, was watched by 5.4 million viewers, giving it a 25.4% share of the total television audience.

Britain's Got Talent got 11 million viewers for the main show, with the results programme getting a massive 13.1 million. Doctor Who was only the 5th most watched programme for the day and the second highest rated programme on BBC1. For the first time since the series returned in 2005, the programme did not win its timeslot.

:wtf: People of Britian, seriously WTF

Dangit I was completely underwhelmed by this one. It's a vast improvement over the previous two episodes, but it didn't really grab me. Here's hoping that next week'll bring a nice payoff.

And Tennant really needs to tone it down.

If I have my facts straight though, I think Robby and the LiS robots were both designed by the same person.

Ugh, thats what I was afraid of. Lord people are a bnch of tasteless plebs. No doubt if they showed shit like 'Dancing With The Stars', and 'Idol' over there, they'd be top rated programs as well.

Sad that probably the best epiosdes this season (This one, and 'The Poison Sky') have gotten tne worse ratings.

They do and they are. In fact, those formats originate in Britain.

Fantastic.

Purely because I absolutely adore Alex Kingston's character. I haven't liked a new character this much since the introduction of Captain Jack, also Moffatt's work.

To hell with Rose, lets keep River Song around for as long as Alex Kingston's willing o stay, IMO.

But, hey, "spoilers"!

I'm definitely curious as to how the little girl is interfacing with a library planet 3,000 years in the future. That's going to be an interesting explanation.

I marked it as Above Average as it definitely needs part two to complete the story, there are so many great unanswered questions the episodes could easily be the best so far this year.

Can Mr Moffatt do a 'normal' Doctor Who story? :) I wonder how much the tone of the series is going to change?

I think the little girl is the library computer as is her "world", what I'm curious about is who the other figures with her represent (dad and Dr. Moon).
